Anyone have heavy bleeding in the first few weeks and it be ok?

I got a BFP today on a digi and Wondfo after what I thought was AF. I spotted at first, the it turned to heavy bleeding for about 3 days, then medium, then light, and back to spotting. In total, it lasted about 12 days. I thought I had AF, especially since I tested and got BFNs up until the spotting. I didn't bother testing after that until today. My temps were going up and my "AF" pattern was different than my regular AF. Don't even know what really convinced me to test but I did and was I ever shocked! So my question is, has anyone else ever had heavy period like spotting for that long and gone on to have a healthy rest of their pregnancy? I will go to the doc. tomorrow to get checked. I really hope its not a MC. Thanks

Some people do get a period at the beginning of pregnancy, I did with my first. But, it was much lighter than a normal period. Only way to find out for sure is to get your betas checked and/or an ultrasound. Good luck!

The only bleeding I have experienced was after four-play and intercourse in the beginning. I did call the doctor's office. I wasn't bleeding a lot, but enough to wear a pantie liner. It cleared up completely by the end of the fulling day.

The doctor told me to rest so I could heal so I did. I was dizzy too so I had no choice. I haven't been bleeding since. But I do still experience sexual discomfort to this day. I'll be 11 weeks at the end of this week.

you cannot get a period while you're pregnant...that just doesn't make sense. That said, like pp said, I would call your dr tomorrow. Bleeding can be a sign of a miscarriage or can just be due to many other things and the baby is okay. Gl, I can't imagine what you're going through!

I took a look at your chart and that is a bit strange! I would think if it were a chemical pregnancy you wouldn't get a BFP after the bleeding but not before because the hcg would be dropping. The body can do weird things sometimes. I had bleeding right before O that I thought was my period, just a tad lighter. But then that would have meant I Oed on CD5 which is pretty crazy, especially since I have irregular cycles and dont tend to O until CD 30+. I ended up knocked up that cycle too. I decided to just consider it mid-cycle bleeding. I know it's not the same as your situation, but I'm just trying to say that our bodies can really throw us for a loop sometimes and things can still work out. If I were in your shoes, I'd be cautiously optimistic. The doctor will probably do a beta draw and if it comes up present in your blood, s/he'll probably have you come back in a couple days to see if the levels are going up or down. An ultrasound probably wouldn't show too much yet at this point. Good luck!

With my daughter I started bleeding the day my period was due and if I did not test a few days before that I would have just thought it was my period. I also had some spotting at about 9 weeks and then again at 25 weeks. That being said, it was always light and did not last more than a few days. I would call your doctor and see if everything is okay. What they did for me was an ultrasound but it was too early so they had us come back in two weeks and the baby was fine. They also did blood work every two days for about a week and a half to make sure my hcg levels were going up. Good luck!

Yeah I'll second that, I know someone that had their "period" once a month for the first four months of pregnancy.

I experienced a little bit of spotting during the first few week or two, before I knew I was pregnant but that was all.

What you're going through would concern me. I think it would be a good idea for you to see the doctor and get checked out, just to make sure everything is ok.

Everytime I have had heavy bleeding I have ended up having a miscarriage. Tha being said I would assume that the fact that your bleeding stopped would be a good sign. Hopefully the Dr. will have the answers you are looking for tomorrow.

Thanks ladies. I have an appt. at 9:45 this morning. I'm not getting excited yet because of the circumstances. If the bleeding was light I wouldn't be as worried, but it wasn't light. I know it could be an ectopic preg. and that worries me. The only positives right now are that it has mostly stopped, I just get a little brown/pink when I wipe, my temps are still increasing, and I got a + on a digi yesterday after O'ing on the 25th of Jan. I believe. I don't think hubby and I BDed any time after that. I tested up until the 4th of Feb. (all neg.) because that was when I started spotting and that changed into heavy bleeding about 3 days later. I assumed it was AF. So I'm thinking, if it was chemical, I wouldn't still be testing positive on a digi after all that time bleeding. I'm so confused!! I guess that's what docs are for. I'll update everyone later.

As for the BFP- sometimes a woman's HCG takes a while to come back down if it is a c/p. However I hope this is not the case for you.

So the doctor couldn't find anything wrong just by a quick check down there. She said bleeding can come from all kinds of situations. So, for now, I had blood drawn to check my levels and I go back again Wed. to have more blood drawn. We should know by Thursday what's going on. If my levels are up, then I'm going to have an ultrasound either Thurs. or Friday. I know it doesn't look good so I'm not getting my hopes up until results are in!

I hope that your blood work comes back positive. One of my girlfriends had a sub chronic hematoma that caused heavy bleeding but baby was just fine. Good luck and keep us updated.

So it's what I expected, a MC. My numbers were very low (38) on the last blood sample so it shouldn't be much longer until I'm back at 0 and the spotting stops. We'll continue to try. Doctor said next time we get a BFP to go in and they'll give me some progesterone (sp?) cream to help. I hope to be back over here again soon!!
