Hey everyone, I decided to start using the Wondfo OPK and I am almost positive I missed my surge this month by a day or so. The test line was darker the first day I tested and has gotten increasingly lighter. However, I know I am close to ovulation now. Is there a test that anyone can suggest/recommend (for or against) that would tell me I am ovulating now rather than in a few days?
Thanks so much!! I have also been temping, but my temp is pretty consistent. Today is the first day that it dropped, and it was 97.3 for several days, increased to 97.5 for two days (but I also tested an hour earlier those two days) and now it is 97.1.
Tips/suggestions?
Re: OPK Question
I don't know about your specific question, but I recommedn the Clearblue Digital sticks because they take the guess work out of the lines. It's a simple smiley face (try now!) or no smiley face (not now!). The lines were way too hard to decipher for us.
You can also get the Clearblue Fertility Monitor, which will track your cycle month after month....it starts at "low" chance of geting pregnant, goes to "high" and then eventually to "peak"...so you know things are getting close. It's more of an investment, but we personally liked having it.
OPKs (or LH blood work) tells you that you will ovulate. Fertility monitors (which generally read 2+ hormones including LH) can have a slightly more gradual, i.e. "high" and "peak" indication of impending ovulation.
Ultrasound can tell you the size of the follicle and if it's released an egg yet.
BBT can tell you that you have ovulated.
There isn't anything else that tell you, "yep right now."
I used wondfo twice (sometimes three) times a day and then Clear.blue easy digital opks to confirm. The cbe digital would show a smilie face sooner and longer, and I knew based on prior bbt that I didn't ovulate as early as it showed. I used prior timing from opk to ovulation to time our insem and got a bfp right away.
This might not be helpful for you, but in my case, non of the ovulation kits worked, and I had to go in for ultrasounds, and they would predict my ovulation based on follicle size--and then just to be safe, I would also do the ovulation trigger shot to make sure that we were in the window. This was for IUIs. With IVF, they were all up on me anyway, so we always knew when we were in the window.
Some women don't produce the LH surge, so the kits don't work for them, but it sounds like you are getting some results if the lines are changing colors.
In any event, good luck!!!

FWIW I spent a few years (yes years) before we were actively TTC, tracking my cycle with BBT and the cheapie OPK's (2 lines). Looking back at that information, I can't tell you how many question marks I have in there (as in I wrote "Positive?" or "Negative?"). And that was before there was any kind of pressure or emotional sway to reading the results. Once we started actively TTC, I switched to the smiley face kits, and never had another doubt. They worked really well for us, even though I gagged every time I had to buy them because they were so expensive. FYI - they were substantially cheaper at Target than at Walgreen's/CVS.

We're cheap, so we use Wondfo's 2-3x a day until it looks positive, and then the smiley face CBE to confirm.
Amazon also has good pricing on the CBEs. DW bought them at CVS in a pinch and they were $50, on Amazon they are $38 (for the box of 20).
