Seriously, I know that the concern is probably the nitrates, but the occasional bacon fest isn't going to turn your baby into a mutant. I despise all these eating rules for pregnant women. Despise.

You know what else is bad for pregnancy? Food policing (not saying you are doing this OP, this is general and not aimed at you at all-- but to the ones trying to police your habits).

Let people enjoy their food, FFS!

Totally agree! I have to police for food intolerances already (I have splurged though.... I'm pregnant and can and then feel it later... Lol). Don't take away things I can eat! I wouldn't be able to eat anything and that's not good for baby.

You can buy bacon without nitrates at regular grocery stores (check the labels). I do this because nitrates also can be a trigger for migraines. I say bring on the pig!

I'm having a BLT for lunch and don't feel the least bit guilty. But then my OB told me to eat bacon and eggs before my glucose test to that leads me to believe I can eat bacon. And believe me, I do!!! Yum!

I have eggs almost everyday for breakfast and bacon a few times a week. We buy nitrate free bacon. The fat and protein in bacon is eggs is good for you and the baby. I think all the weird frankenfoods with odd chemicals no one has ever heard of are way worse than bacon and eggs.
