Does anyone know or know where I can information on g tubes?
I want to know what percentage of kids have g tubes, average length of time they have g tubes for, and when your child's eating is bad enough to get a g tube. I keep searching google, but I'm not having much luck.
Re: G tubes
Oley Foundation is another good one-
https://www.oley.org/
When we were deciding whether or not to get a g-tube for our DS it was most helpful to me to talk w/ other parents who had kids with the same dx and see what their experiences were, how long the kids had the tubes, how it affected their oral intake, etc. I know this isn't possible for everyone since not everyone has a dx or explanation for their feeding issues but it was helpful since we knew Nick's were related to his RSS. There is a general feeding tube support group on FB for parents of kids w/ feeding issues. Not sure if the group is closed from being searched (I know you have to be a member to view any content but not sure if you would find it with a search) Anyhow- its called Pediatric Feeding Disorders/ FTT/ GERD/ and kiddos with feeding tubes . It might be helpful to ask any questions in this group- let me know if you have any problems being added to the group.
