I am team green so I don't get going early to find out the gender either. But I had 8-10 ultrasounds for DS, which I think is a lot, all because the doctor wanted them. And I will say every time I saw my baby I was so happy. Even though I could feel the baby there is nothing like seeing your little baby moving around and to get those pictures, its so amazing. So I don't get going to find out the gender early but I do get going just to see the baby.
Also I don't remember that many people going while for DS. But I didn't go on the bump that much with him.
I'd rather spend frivolous money on a massage than an u/s.
I definitely don't get it. I'm happy to wait another 5 weeks, though. The answer is the same no matter when you get it, and there is plenty of time to prepare and shop in the last half of my pregnancy. The first half is for shopping for ME.
extra u/s can make a baby left handed and duh, obviously inferior!!!
haha I love that very logical reason

Being pregnant with my first baby, I am very eager to find out if it's a girl or boy so I too am doing the elective 3d/4d ultrasound at week 15. I would love to start buying clothes for the baby already but find it very find since all the gender nutural clothes are all duckies.
I don't understand why people care what other people do. Seriously, I don't get a lot of things either. I think being team green is silly. I also hate seeing people take a picture of a newborn with their naked butt showing.
I also don't care enough to make a post to find out. It doesn't matter to me what other people choose to do.

Exactly! I'm actually starting to side eye the intentions of this post...
If I was offered one I would probably take it. I had my dating u/s at 7w 4d and I won't get another u/s until at least 22 weeks. All of you ladies that have gotten NT scans (wasn't even offered one) and then these elective u/s at 14-16 weeks are so lucky. Like I said, most of you due weeks after me will even get your gender u/s before me because my dumb OB doesn't do the gender u/s until 22 weeks or later. Apparently where I live they aren't that good and they can't seem to get it right at 20 weeks.
I really don't see why some see the need to judge the women that are getting an elective us. I had one with dd and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was more relaxed and we got to get a good look at our baby as well as some neat video that I still like to watch every once in a while. If it's not for you that's understandable, but I don't see why others having one is judge worthy.
I'm not getting one because personally I don't feel the need to. I could care less if another woman decides to get one though.
Just a total pet peeve...the correct saying is "couldn't care less". If you are saying that you COULD care less...then you still have some care. Just a tiny thing! It happens all the time.
But yes. I totally agree with the intended sentiment. To each their own. I think it's really exciting to hear what all my bumpie pals are having and if its fun? Why not! I probably spent 50 on Cheetos in the past year. Do I need them, heck no, but they make me happy, so i spend my money them.
Well when you say that scans are 100 percent covered its really not because you still pay an insurance premium every month. So you are still paying for it. I am not saying its good or bad honestly. I just don't get it. I guess it's my UO too.
Uhhh....we pay our insurance premiums whether we use the insurance or not, whether we get every ultrasound or not. And we only pay $50 a month, so it is really not a big deal.
I don't "get" why someone would care so much. I can easily afford it. I don't have to make any sacrifices and I can still go out and get a massage, go to dinner, or go spend it on the baby.
Besides...seeing the baby for 30-40 minutes makes me happy and why shouldn't I spend a small amount on something that makes me happy. I got 2 last pregnancy and cherished every moment. So I will sit around and be happy and you can sit around and be irritated at how others spend their money.
My insurance is provided by my employer (I don't pay a premium) and my anatomy scan is covered by insurance. My only complaint is that my OB does the scan after 20 weeks. I can find out next week by paying $45 at an elective ultrasound (done by an actual licensed radiologist) instead of waiting until the end of next month. Since I have a trip planned to LA at the end of this month (hello fabric district!) I am finding out early. Since I'll be working up until I go into labor, I'd like the extra four weeks of prep time.
If I hadn't been able to find out through the Mat21 test, I would definitely have gotten an elective ultrasound to determine the sex. One of the very best parts of pregnancy is finding out the sex! It's nearly as joyful as finding out you're pregnant to begin with if you ask me. Why not find out early if you're able to?
i've been getting ultra sounds done since I've been 4 weeks pregnant. the first trimester i had u/s every 2 weeks and now in the 2nd trimester its every 3weeks. this i what my doctor suggest and I'm cover. i've been told this is normal, by my other friends who were pregnant.
