How hard is it?! (Dog poop related)

I live in a giant apartment complex.  There's over 100 buildings and 12 apartments in each building.  I'd say in the 2 buildings (mine and the one across the parking lot) at least half of us have a dog.  Some have two.  How hard is it to carry a bag to pick up your dog's poop when you take them out for a walk??

It's dark when I take my dog out in the morning and I stepped in a giant pile of crap.  I didn't notice until I got all the way up the carpeted stairs right outside my door.  So I spent my morning cleaning my boots (whilst yakking into the garbage can I might add) and the rug which made me late for work.  UUUGGGHH!!

  • Uuugghhh! I'm so with you! We live in a complex that's dog friendly too. They even provide doggy poo trash cans on every corner and there are little trash bags for free in them!!! And there's still crap EVERYWHERE!! WTF? Go live in a private home if you can't or won't obey the freaking rules.

  • Ugh, that is so annoying! I'm sorry. I always kept a stash of plastic grocery store bags by the front door to use when I walked our dog. I don't understand how people can be so inconsiderate.

  • This is one of my biggest pet peeves.  The people in our neighborhood are horrible about picking up their dog's poop.  There is one whole block in my neighborhood where the entire parking strip from one end to the other is covered in dog poop.  I don't love doing it but I always take a bag with me when we walk and pick up after my dog.

  • Ugh, yep, I would be pissed. Our apartment complex is very dog-friendly (I'd say at least 50% of the people in the complex have dogs...) but people are for the most part really good about picking up after them. There are a few people who aren't, but for the most part, you know where their "areas" are and can avoid them. It's really not that hard, people!

  • It's really frustrating because the apartment complex doesn't really help make it easier for all these dogs.  They have those little pet trash cans with the bags, but I've seen exactly two in the entire complex.  Also, they just moved our dumpsters up the hill so now it's a little bit more of a walk, but still not that hard!  In the last place I lived (which was MUCH smaller) there were so many of the pet trash cans it was literally impossible not to pick up after your dog.  Needless to say, I miss that place for many reasons.

And don't even get me started on the playground behind my building.  It's the perfect size for DD, but I hate taking her there because it's like dodging land mines playing on the grass.  I am really REALLY hoping to be out of there before our lease is up in October!!

  • I can relate, and I understand how you feel!  We live on a cul-de-sac with only a few houses and several empty lots.  Only one house on our street has dogs, and the ONLY time I have ever seen them clean up after their dogs is when I happened to look out my window and saw the lady standing there while the dog pooped in my yard.  It was like she was watching our house to see if we'd see her out the window, because she was staring right at the window I was standing in when I opened the curtain!  She promptly grabbed a bag and cleaned up the poo, but otherwise, we find dog poo in our yard, in our driveway, on the sidewalk up and down the entire street...it is so annoying!  My husband has commented several times that someday, he's just going to shovel it up and go dump it in their yard.  So annoying.
