Does anyone have any tricks for getting baby to sleep in the crib? DS2 is 13 days old, and will just cry his little lungs out anytime we try to sleep him in the crib. DS1 slept in his crib from day 1, so I am at a loss.
Currently, we have him sleeping in the Rock n Play, which he loves, but I am starting to worry that the longer we wait to put him in the crib, the worse the transition is going to be (and I am really hoping to avoid CIO.)
Or am I overthinking this, and I should just be happy he sleeps well in the RNP?
TIA!
Re: Help transitioning to the crib
We're in the same boat with my 5 week old DD. My DS slept in the bouncer for the first 3 months and transition to the crib was a three day process but we got it done. My boppy pillow has a part that goes between the legs and Velcros to the back of the cover so it straps them in to prop the baby up. We put him in that in the crib for a few nights, then I would move the pillow once he had been asleep for a little bit. I put him in the crib every time he went to sleep and eventually he slept flat.
I'm hoping we can get that process started with DD now that the feeding times have gotten more spread out. I think the key is to make them feel secure. Maybe try rolled up blankets or towels on either side of LO, away from the face of course, to mimic the RNP. Good luck!
This. LO is too young to CIO so just do what works.
I agree. I think you should just roll with what works for your LO. It's a bit early to stress about a transition. My sisters baby slept from the crib from day one, my DS will NOT have and will only sleep in the RnP. We will transition him, at the latest, around six weeks. The thing we're most focusing on is a sleeping schedule. Once we're confident with that, we will move to the crib transition. Good luck!!
