Trying to Get Pregnant

Started pack late

I've tried researching Google but am getting conflicting answers. I lurk here from time to time and you ladies seem to know your stuff.

My question is..I started my BC pack one day late. Any idea the odds of ovulation this month. I know only real way is to wait for period to show just wondering in advance. Thanks

Re: Started pack late

  • You will be fine with starting one day late....I'm sure one day missed is not going to allow you to ovulate. I'm 99.999999 sure

  • Well...did you take two pills the first day you started (to account for the missed pill on the first day) or did you just start it one day late without making up for the missed day. That would affect the outcome.

  • By BC your meaning birth control right? Just to clarify.. are you planning on TTC soon? Are you trying to avoid pregnancy or get pregnant?

No I did not take two..I actually took two pills in one day last cycle w/out realizing. I thought it wasn't a big deal since it was the last week of my pack. Now I'm not so sure because it means I was a day late starting my new pack.

I'm not sure how taking an extra pill last month affects this months pack? When I was on BC(for 11 years) each month had its own pack.

If you are worried, use condoms as a back up.

    This.

Also, read your instructions. Typically, when you miss a day, you are supposed to take 2 the next day.

Wouldn't taking an extra one make you a day early starting the next pack or did you skip the next day when you realized you'd taken two?
  • Sorry for the confusion.  When I realized I had taken two in one day I was already at the end of my pack.  I had my period as normal and thought all was good.  And started my new pack on Sunday as usual.  Then in thinking about it since my last pill was on a Friday I should have started my new pack on Saturday instead of Sunday.  Meaning I had in essence skipped my first pill or started one day late.  Hope that clears it up at least somewhat. Ha. TIA

Should probably have just started your new pack on Saturday. Use condoms for a week along with continuing your pills. The package comes with instructions for what to do in case you miss one to three doses, I'd recommend rereading it and ask your pharmacist if you have questions.
