  Like PPs said, IKEA is a good option. Unfortunately, there isn't an IKEA by my parents house so we ended up going to Target and getting a clearance crib. Works great for when we're in town

  Not sure what affordable is to you- Target has a Delta convertible crib on sale for $99 right now. https://www.target.com/p/delta-winter-park-3-in-1-convertible-crib-spiced-cinnamon/-/A-13566920#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink

  Wal-mart also has a lot of options for $99- and you can get a decent mattress for around $40.

  We also have an Ikea crib at grandmother's. My daughter goes there once a week while I work and sometimes also does some overnight stays if we are going out. She sleeps great in it and it wasn't super expensive.
  

  After 2 years of TTC, our daughter was born on Oct 31, 2011!
