Hugely Pregnant at Mardi Gras

While all you east-coasters are dealing with record snowfall, we in New Orleans are in the middle of Mardi Gras! It's officially on Tuesday, but parades and parties have been going on for weeks now, with this weekend through Tuesday being the biggest party/parade time. Contrary to popular belief, Mardi Gras is actually really family friendly (as long as you stay off Bourbon St.).

So I've gone to a few parades, even though I'm due on the 20th and some people seem to think all the excitement will make me go into labor early... Honestly, I'd be fine with that! I'm kind of over being pregnant and it would be cute to have a Mardi Gras baby. :)

So, happy Mardi Gras, y'all!

  • I am over on the north shore and am still paranoid of having to get to the hospital around parades!
Oh the other hand I am thinking of sending DH to get a king cake tomorrow since I can't!

  • Yay! Party!!!

DevilAngel  I love Mardi Gras. I am not religious, but I really enjoy celebrating Fat Tuesday and then doing some sort of cleanse for lent. It makes me feel centered right at the beginning of the year. I'm sad to be exempt from the process of gorging and then cleansing due to pregnancy but its worth it and I can always celebrate next year!

One of my neighbors is from New Orleans and they have a bead tree out front in their yard with a sign that says Take One, Happy Mardi Gras! I was waiting for Tuesday to take mine as I took my walk that day right past it. I hope there will be some left...

  • Enjoy! We love mardi gras.  We had our king cake and jambalaya early this year... Next year it's back to tradition and having a huge blow out in the house... Mardi gras comes to NY!
  • Another Nola girl here! Due on the 24th.  We went out to friday parades and did Bacchus last night.  Probably staying home today though if we actually get that rain they keep predicting.  I'm kind of hoping he waits until after Mardi Gras because I'm delivering at Touro. It would be crazy trying to get there during a parade. Happy Mardi Gras!
