Hello Everyone.
Yesterday i had my first doc appointment, it was my 8wk appointment. After I go through all the poking and prodding, we finally get to the ultrasound. The first thing the doc says is that there is no heart beat, and that could mean 1 of 2 things. One, i could be not as far along as they thought, or two, I had a natural miscarriage. My question is, could they be 3 or 4 weeks off?
I kept a very specific log about my periods and intercourse, since we are trying to get pregnant. Is is possible to conceive a couple days before my missed period? because I did have intercourse 3 times in the last few days before i was suppose to get my next period, but i never got it, since i had a positive test the day after i was suppose to get it. If that is true, I guess i could only be 4 or 5 weeks instead of 8 and a half, which would explain no heart beat during ultra sound.
Has anyone every experienced this?
Thanks in advance for all the replies.
Kerri
Re: miscalculation or miscarriage??
When you say you kept a specific log of your periods, were you temping/taking OPKs to pinpoint ovulation?
Can we have dates? When did you get your BFP? It's very unlikely you got a positive less than 9 days after you conceived, so that date will help pinpoint when you may have conceived.
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this right now.
Hello Luthy!
I didnt keep a temp log, but i have a menstrual calender that i have on my phone. I supposedly ovulated between Dec 28-Jan 2 according to my calender. My last menstrual cycle was Dec 7-12. I had intercourse Dec 15th, 18th, 21st, 25th, Jan 5th, 6th, 8th. I got my BFP on Jan 9th, two days after I was suppose to get my next period on Jan 7th. I got a positive test from my Doc office on Jan 10th.
The only thing is that I rarely ever have a 28 days cycle. I can be anywhere from 29 days to 37...that why i am kind of freaking out, because i am not regular....
Based on your BFP date, it's extremely unlikely that your dates are that off. You're 4w post positive test. If you got a BFP at 6DPO (which is very early and unlikely), then you'd be at least 7w by now. That's far enough along to see a heartbeat. I'm sorry. Does your doctor have a plan for follow up?
FWIW, you should consider charting. It'll help you to understand your cycles better and help with pinpointing ovulation, especially since yours seems to vary. Your phone system will keep telling you that you're ovulating on X day regardless of whether you actually ovulated or not. Charting will give you better insight. Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book for understanding charting. I also used Fertility Friend to maintain my chart as I found it easier than doing it on paper myself.
Hello Karen,
My doctor took blood yesterday and tomorrow I have to go to my Urgent Care to get another blood analysis. On tueday I got back to my Doc to get a follow up and see if my numbers have been doubling or not. That is my next step. I do think also, that my dates are not that off. I do have an ovulation thermometer. i just havent used it yet. I guess i will have to wait to Tuesday to see what my next step is....Thanks for the info about charting, I will definitely look into it.
