Placenta Encapsulation

Anyone considering this?

Re: Placenta Encapsulation

  • Nope. I'm pretty crunchy, but this skeeves me out. No judgement for those who do it, but I just can't even think about it.

  • I'm thinking about it, but I haven't really looked into finding someone to do it or what it would cost.  Those two things will probably determine whether or not I do it.

In my area, the cost is about 250

Yikes.  I'm not sure it's worth it.  I've heard mixed reviews about how beneficial it actually is.  It's kind of one of those things that I'd do if it was not super pricey and convenient, but we'll have to see.

  • I'd do it if the price is right, but I bet in my area (Chicago) it's more than I want to spend. I'm not convinced that it actually does anything, but there is something to be said for a placebo effect!
  • I am considering it but my H is not thrilled about it at all.

  • I've thought about it and BF is down with anything that could benefit me after the birth. There is a lady that does it in my area for 225. She will even come to the hospital and take the placenta and bring the capsules back to you within 24 hours.
  • I also had to google it, no I will not be doing it! I think I just threw up a little. Sorry! if you can stomach it, sounds like there are several benefits! I am just not one of those strong stomach people.

  • Initial reaction, no thanks. But if this was something that had proven scientific benefits then I dare say I might have a change of heart. Still I find the thought of it quite icky.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I am doing it for sure :)
Though everyone I talk to is completely against is because they think its digusgusting. I have read nothing but good things about it :)

  • I thought it was gross until I did actually have PPD with my DD. Once I got pregnant this time, I looked into it and can't find anybody in my area to do it. I would love to try something other than Zoloft. The doctors in the practice I go to feel that I need to start taking Zoloft again in my third trimester and it kind of freaks me out just because of all the stuff I've heard about heart defects and lawsuits with it. They all feel that the benefits outweigh the risks in my situation, but I would definitely prefer trying something more "natural". I never want to experience PPD again. It was like a living hell.
