So, I'm orginally from Chicagoland and currently reside in the DFW Metroplex. Both are incredibly weird descriptions and the only ones I am familiar with. Any other cities out there with bizzare nicknames?

Though some people call it Hotlanta and others aggressively frown upon the usage of this nickname...
Heh I was wondering what you were going to say. Well, the news calls it the Metro Atlanta Area but I have not idea if that includes the suburbs or just inside the perimeter. Oh there's another one: ITP
Atlanta....Though some people call it Hotlanta and others aggressively frown upon the usage of this nickname...
When I lived there people were really big on OTP or Inside the Perimeter. I once judged a guy for a 678 area code.
I saw this on House Hunters a few weeks ago. The girl didn't want to live OTP in Atlanta. I think she literally said "OTP" in every other sentence. It drove me crazy.

Some of you from big cities will laugh, but I live in the Omaha Metro area. Also called the Midlands and the Heartland, but those are used to describe other areas as well.
No Cowboys...they suck no matter how good they may be playing.
Go Bears.

I forgot about The Mistake on the Lake. Ha!
I miss Chicago. DH won't move back because he likes not having to shovel snow.

People also refer to Atlanta as The Dirty. I am one of those that divides by ITP or OTP. I used to live OTP, now I will never live anywhere but ITP.
Never heard of The Dirty before. Now if you are rollin dirty maybe you are driving thru Atlanta.

I consider B'more it's own world, so there's that. I lived there for a bit. I'm still scarred.
I mostly think of it as the communites within and just off the beltway.

This or "the ATL" (the letters sounded out) except for my older relatives in the burbs that always call anything inside the perimeter "downtown", lol.
I've given up learning geography in this area. There are so many cities and neighborhoods and villages...
Then we moved to Columbia. There are about a bajillion neighborhoods and village centers and crap.
OP, I think I'm in the DC metro area, even though we're closer to Baltimore.
That sounds really futuristic!

Or DMV, which confused the heck outta me when we moved around here. DC/Maryland/Virginia.

Big D.
Where the East Ends. (Dallas)
Where the West Begins. (Fort Worth)
Oh, So You Must Love the Dallas Cowboys.
Philly. It drives me NUTS when any TV show that takes place in the area says "Philadelphia". No one who lives there calls it that.
Sometimes the news refers to it as the tri-state area (Philly & burbs, South NJ, and Delaware).
But of course, like most cities, there are neighborhoods. The Northeast, Manayunk, Kensington, Rittenhouse, Old City, etc, etc.
Hartford?
lol
We did live in Chicagoland, now we've moved Metro Milwaukee.
No Cowboys...they suck no matter how good they may be playing.

How dare you forget Pearl Jam!
Im in good old Portlandia. Home of the weird.
I used to live in Toronto, and the city plus surrounding urban areas are known as the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).
I live in a city now, but it's not exactly a mecca of amazing things. As a joke, people sometimes add -vegas to the end of our city's name.
It's where the dream of the 90's is alive.
