So I just left my doctor's office and was told that the pap smear they did a few weeks ago came back abnormal (level 1, almost level 2?). She didn't sound TOO concerned but scheduled me for a colposcopy. My question is 1) Could the fact that this is an IVF pregnancy have anything to do with that?! and 2) Has anyone else had this happen?
Re: Abnormal pap at 15 weeks
Not sure about the level 1 vs level 2 thing, but could it be that you are positive for Group B? My second time around I found out I was positive for that at a pap in the beginning of my pregnancy. Or could you maybe have BV or something?
Not sure, just throwing things out there. Good luck.
IVF #1 ET 1 d3 embryo 10/30/11 BFP
3 Embryos frozen (1 d5, 2 d6)
DS born 07/29/12
FET #1 ET 1 d5 embryo 02/10/15 BFN
FET #2 1 d6 embryo didn't survive thaw, transferred last d6. CP
I also had an abnormal pap before I was pregnant but all they did was have me come in again in three months for another swab. Not sure about during a pregnancy though.
I am scheduled for a colposcopy next week, she mentioned that they wouldn't biopsy since I'm pregnant but that they would probably watch me closely regardless and if they notice anything else, they'll plan to biopsy after I deliver.
Thanks for the response, after doing some online researching I read that a lot of women get abnormal results during pregnancy, so I do feel much better!
