I'm going to ask a subsequent question about this, since it was brought up.
I haven't had 3 hours of consecutive sleep consistently in the last 7 years (since I've had my dogs). Now, I know that's a different issue. But it doesn't seem as if this is going to change any time soon.
Would temping be worthless for me? From what I've read so far, it seems like it would.
Re: s/o Temping: Is it worth it for me?
For 7 years you haven't slept for 3 hours straight EVER?
Perhaps you can have the dogs sleep somewhere else in the house. Yeesh.
yikes, i think you should try to get better sleep!
BUT, to answer your question, yah, temping probably wouldn't do you much good. it doesn't hurt to at least see how long your cycles are though. OPK's would help a lot.

Deal with your dogs. That's my final answer.
Thanks! That's what I thought.
Agreed
This is what I'm wondering!
Love & luck to my 3TC girls. Congrats to Omega-The boys are here!
If there's one thing I've learned while waiting my turn,
it's that in each life some rain falls but you also get some sun.
After 2 years & 2 losses, our little man arrived 8-2011.
It's hard for most people to imagine, but I get by no problem! Even before I had them, it was rare that I could sleep longer than 5 hours at a time at night.
How do you know it's not worth it until you try?
On occassion, I've had to temp after getting out of bed to check on my DD... and my temp were in line with previous temps. So, you never know.

Actually, I think you should give it a go. I rarely got 3 consecutive hours of sleep my first couple months of charting and managed to capture a thermal shift each time. What I would do was temp as soon as I first woke up after going to bed. If I had only been asleep for an hour or two, I'd try to get back to sleep and temp later. Yes, sometimes the temp was at 2am and sometimes it was at 5am, but I found it didn't make much of a difference for me. It might be the same with you, too. I wouldn't put much stock in it for the first cycle or two, but if you're finding that you get a shift and it matches up with your other signs, it might make sense to keep temping.
Yes, this.
