Keloid scar the second time...

DDs c-section left me with an ugly keloid scar. I'm 90% sure that when we get KU with #2 I want a RCS. I'm wondering if the doctor would be able to cut out this ugly keloid and give me a better scar? Or am I more prone to another keloid the 2nd time too?

Thanks!

Re: Keloid scar the second time...

  • Yep!

I had a nasty keloid scar from my first emergency csection. It was all sorts of ugly.

My OB cut it all out and "redid" it this time since it was a RCS. I'm 7.5 months out and it looks SO much better a little pink but nothing like last time. It's even not as wide as it was before.

I would talk to your OB before and mention you'd like it to be cleaned up.

  • I've had 4 c-sections. After my first 2, my scar was a keloid. The OB has cut it out every time. After c/s 3 and 4, my scar is not a keloid.

Your OB will cut it out, but that doesn't guarantee that it won't keloid again.

  • Thanks ladies.

When I met my new OB/GYN to get out my IUD (my general doctor couldn't get it out), he mentioned my scar. So hopefully he'll fix it up next time. :)

  • Mine cut out my ugly scar and said she thought I may have reacted to the dissolvable stitches, so this time around she used stitches that she removed after three days. My scar is looking great! It's night and day in comparison to the last one.

  • My doc cut out my keloid scar the second time around and also prescribed a steroid cream to put on it afterwards. We are almost 4 months out and so far the scar looks pretty good and isn't painful like my first.

  • My first keloid really bad. This time my doc closed with nylon stitches and dermabond, the morning after my evening section, he removed the nylon. 4 weeks out and it looks awesome

  • My first scar was a lot worse, rough and healed with lots of keloids. I'm a year out from c/s 2, and it looks loads better than the last one. Stretch marks and belly overhang are not any better, blergh.
