Keratosis Pilaris

Hi..

Trying to figure out what this rash on my LOs face is has been more than challenging. I saw pictures of Keratosis Pilaris on the internet and it resembles it.  Anyone's Lo dealing with this?  I could use some suggestions of treatments, etc. THANKS!

Re: Keratosis Pilaris

  • I just took my DD to the doctor today for this. We pretty much knew what it was but just wanted her pedi to confirm it and ask for any recommendations for treatments. He basically told us that it was not treatable and that it will most likely go away on its on. He said there are a variety of creams and lotions that might help it temporarily but there's nothing to cure it. He did give us a prescription for salicylic acid, but we are still debating if we want to use it or not because it could cause irritation.

  • Is it on her face or just her arms and legs?  My LO has it mainly on his face with some on his legs, arms, and back.  You can't really notice it until you put him in sunlight and then its really there.  Is hers the same? Did he also say how long before it will go away?
  • I have keratosis pilaris and from personal experience the only thing I've found that helps is Noodle and Boo ointment. It's actually made for babies but I've always used it. It can also be used as a diaper rash cream. It's about 15 per bottle but a little goes a long way. You can only buy it on their website.

I personally would not use salicylic acid on lo, it's the main ingredient for acne products. Very drying to the skin and potent.

Hers is mainly on her arms with a little on her legs..none on her face. Hers is not that noticeable but you can definitley feel them! Sometimes they get a little red and you can notice them but most of them aren't noticeable. Her pedi said that she will most likely outgrow it, but he didn't give us a timeline.
