On Tusday the 5th, went in to L&D at 6am to start the induction process. Was given two Cervadil pills (3 hours apart) to ripen my cervix before starting Pitocin.
After the 2nd pill my cervix changed from 1cm to 2cm dilated and I had my Bloody Show. Doctor said that was good and started Pitocin at 3pm. Pitocin did not do anything other than cause my very strong cramps. Cervix did not change even after uping the dose every 30 mins.
At 6:45pm my cramps and any contractions I was having stopped. Since my water had not broken and I am only 39 weeks the Doctor wanted to watch me for about 2 more hours and then check to see if anything Cervix wise had changed. At about 8:45pm nothing had changed and I was sent home after talking to my OB. LO was doing great during all of this so thats good news. Now we are just going to let her come on her own as long as everything contiunes to go well. I am high risk so that is the only reason we tried to do an Induction.
I knew there was a 10% chance of an Induction failing but I just never thought it would happen to me. This is my first LO and had no idea what to expect. I know she will come when she is ready just wish I would have not had to leave the Hospital without my LO. Never wanted to put myself, LO or my family thru that. My emotions are thru the roof right now and I cry alot. Thanks for listening. Just had to get it off my chest.
Re: Dealing with a Failed Induction (Long)
Oh, that's rough. I am so sorry! At least your LO is still doing ok, and like DC said, at least they didn't break your water and then rush you into having a CS! I'm still so sorry it didn't work out for you
Sounds like somebody just earned herself a pedicure...
