My state senate just recently passed the fetal heartbeat law.
I find this ridiculous. I'm a firm believer in a womans right to choose and I find it awful that they are taking away time from someone who is having to make the most difficult decision of their life.
Under the new law (if it gets signed in), abortion is illegal after a fetal HB is detected which is usually at 6-7 weeks unless there is proof of rape or incest or to save the mothers life.
I have friends who found out at their A/S that their child would die either at or shortly after birth. They chose to end the pregnancy at that point. It was a horrible, heart-wrenching and almost marriage ending decision for them. They had to go through years of counseling to come to terms with the death of their child. Under this law, she would have had to carry the baby to term and deliver it. I just can't imagine a worse torture.
I'm sure even if it does pass through all the committees and get signed into law, it's going to be disputed. The governor has said that he doesn't know if he'll even sign it if it makes it to his desk.
I agree with this new law in a way, except for the instance you are speaking about. I was amazed to find out that abortion was legal up to 20 weeks or later in most states. I feel that is way too late to be having an elective abortion.
See, I don't know if it should be 20 weeks for an elective abortion but I don't think it should be 6-7 either. You find out at 4-5 weeks that your pregnant. That only gives you a few weeks to make the decision and come up with a way to pay for it if you do chosse abortion. I think somewhere in the middle is better maybe 12-15 weeks. I just think that they should have more time to decide.
Also, many people who wouldn't typically terminate a pregnancy don't find out until their anatomy scan that their baby has a terminal condition and won't survive birth. Or they might survive birth but they would only live for a few hours or days at best and be in pain the entire time. Those families are dealing with enough grief and shouldn't have some right wing judgmental bullsh!t shoved in their faces when they're just trying to do what's right for their child.

Abortion is something people will NEVER agree or compromise on. Yes, the idea of terminating a 20 week fetus is upsetting to me, because I've seen my little guy move, suck his thumb, touch his toes, etc. Would I choose to have a late abortion right now? Absolutely not. If I had gotten pregnant at 16 and been completely unable to take care of myself, not to mention another human being, would I have one? Maybe. I don't know, because I've never been in that position before. How can I sit here and preach about how awful abortion is when I've never been in a situation that caused me to contemplate it? It's not my place, or anyone else's, to tell other women what they can and can't do with their bodies.
I don't like when adults wear camouflage, unless they are hunting. It think it looks tacky as a fashion.
Oh lawds, this x1000! And I have people in my life who I love very much that do this, but dayum it looks trashy!
Haha. I wore a camo shirt in my HDBD pic. *shrug*

Meh, to each his own. You don't like it that's fine. I would never flaunt around a camo skirt or anything. I will say that I despise seeing people in military uniform type nonsense. People DIE in that uniform, it is not a fashion accessory.

I don't mind folks making up names (not picking a name in a baby name book) for their kids, I think folks should be allowed to express their creativity. And I don't think they should be discriminated against for it either, but I know that's just the way of the world

My UO is that I am not excited to register...at all. Both my husband and I are really indecisive and the whole thought of registering just overwhelms me!
I think that the whole "your body is gonna gain what it's gonna gain!" excuse that a lot of my friends have said when discussing pregnancy weight gain is just crap. Yes, your body will gain what it needs, but it's not helping if you're eating everything in sight under the excuse of "eating for two." You're not REALLY eating for two...not two adults. Put down the pie every once in a while and maybe you won't gain 70lbs. As someone who has struggled with weight my whole life I know that a lot of it is about the choices you make.
Thank you!!!! My thoughts exactly. I have always had an issue with weight, and my SIL who is 95lbs told me sunday to eat up this is the time.
My UO is I am so sick of all of the reality shows. Why are there so many out there? They drive me nuts! Give me a good family comedy/drama like how Family Matters or Full House used to be, and I am happy. Because of this I watch Disney channel for all the cute family shows.

This 100%! To say a 12 week abortion is too late is also a little crazy. Yes, some people find out they are pregnant at 4-5 weeks but not everyone. Many people, especially teens, have off cycles and sometimes do not even know they are pregnant until 8-10 weeks. Then making decisions and scheduling can become an issue - hence getting to 12 weeks before you even know it.

This is why I did it online and only asked his input on larger items.
I hate the names Easton and Weston. Next will be Northton and Southton.
AssFace sounds better as a name.
LOL! If you say Southton it just sounds like you have a lisp. Can't say I've heard of Easton or Weston!
My nephew is Easton...and I think he was named after hockey equipment DUMB!!! (my brother played semi professional hockey) lol...and my niece is Paetyn...
Ok my UO is that I hate when people spell names weird!!!are you just asking for your childs name to be mispronounced??? Wow i think that is my first UO lol felt kinda good

Me too!!! I hated registering for my wedding and I'm dreading registering for baby! Plus my MIL keeps on pushing me to register right away.
On the abortion topic, I personally know a couple that did not find out until their 20 week ultrasound that all of their baby's organs were growing outside their body and they decided to carry full term and the baby died 5 minutes after birth, but I honestly think if I were in that position I would want to terminate, I know that makes me seem horrible.
Mine, is pretty mild and may not even be an UO, but I really do not mind being pregnant right now. Maybe it's just that I forgot what the first tri felt like already and have no idea what it will feel like in the last month or so. However, I feel great right now! I have so much energy, I feel super motivated to do everything around the house and get completely organized. I also don't mind all the attention and getting to talk about myself/baby girl right now.
Maybe I should print this out and see if my feelings change in a month or two! haha

Yeah, I don't want my child to have to correct people their whole lives. I'm not anti-unique (even though I will likely have a plain/boring name for my kid(s) ) but the odd spelling is just asking for that kid to be annoyed the 50 millionth time they have to correct someone!

ITA with the military uniform thing.
But yeah, generally, to each their own. My immediate family loves their camo and I still love them lol. I just won't be wearing it! My own look certainly invites disapproving stares sometimes, with my tattoos and gauged ears and what not. Especially when I had pink hair lol! We like what we like I guess.

Alright, my UO is that I do not want a girly girl. I'm glad for people that love girly things and want their girly daughters, I'm just not one of them. I played in mud/dirt/creek water when I was a kid and LOVED it. Yeah, I went through a diehard pink/purple phase (5-6 maybe?) but graduated out pretty quickly and onto dirt and sports.
What will I do if my daughter just wants to wear tutus and play dress up until she's 30?
Maybe mine is more of "irrational fear thursday" oh well...

Believe it or not. I had 12 ear piercings, my nose, my tongue and half a dozen tattoos. I took the piercings out when I enlisted and just haven't bothered with them because I still have to put on my uniform once a month. If I get a career that I get settled in and will allow it, I will sleeve my arms. I have one visible on my wrist and constantly get asked about it. I seem so clean cut at work and in uniform but I'll be the first to go up to some guy tatted up and ask to look at his work. Love it.
Maybe my opinion is that under any other circumstances, not vaccinating is a deal breaker for a friendship for me. Plain and simple. And I guess I'm a hypocrite for still loving these friends to death. Yep. This was more of a FFFC. Oops.
I would not bring my children around children who I know are not vaccinated and could not maintain a friendship with someone who didn't vaccinate their children (unless the child was allergic or immune compromised in a way in which giving the vaccine would be dangerous). It's that much of a dealbreaker for me.
I really dislike the naked belly maternity shoots. If you want to do one for your family's viewing pleasure then have at it. Please don't send out to me in the mail. I don't find it appealing. I sometimes think the pregnant belly is weird looking.
I agree. I like looking at maternity photos, but not when there is a bare belly. It seems awkward. If people want them for their own viewing fine, just don't post it all over Facebook.

I feel the same way! Most days I feel great and enjoy being pregnant. I even enjoy my changing body right now.
When I finally get asked when I want my shower I'm going to pick the one date my friend has plans. She was super judgey regarding my wedding shower and I don't want her to do the same here.
That's more of a confession, damn it.
My UO I guess would be that while I plan on not using physical punishment with my child I think my friends kid is at the point where she needs a spanking. She is out of control and her parents never follow through on their consequences with her. She is a monster.
When DH and I got married, that was how I actually settled on a wedding date... My Step MIL told me that we HAD to have the wedding when the Mariners were in town so she could watch her favorite baseball team the same trip they came for our wedding. Well, I didn't like that... so I chose the one week all summer they were out of town. It felt so good
My UO is that I am not excited to register...at all. Both my husband and I are really indecisive and the whole thought of registering just overwhelms me!
I really hate it when people have cutesy nicknames for their unborn children. Sorry to anyone here that has one. It isn't you. It's me.
J/K. The only reason we're calling baby Hugbug, is because we're Team Green and I hate saying "it". We were just rotating between "he" and "she" but apparently I said "he" too many times to my mom that now she thinks boy. Oops. That and I'm weirdly superstitious about using baby's name before they actually arrive- just in case... but I'm weird!
Our lil' diva: late like her Momma: 40 weeks 5 days!
This first part isn't an UO, just an random thought. I always think of an UO on Friday or Saturday, and then by the time Thursday rolls around again, I always forget it. I really need to start writing them down! I had a really good one last week and for the life of me can't remember it now.
Here's a few new ones I thought of today.
1) I love Disney. There are so many things to do there as an adult other than just rides (though I love those too), and I don't understand when people say that they think it's weird when people go there without kids.
2) I can't stand Brendan Fraser, other than in the movie School Ties. I think he is absolutely horrible in comedies.
3) I really hate to drive. Obviously, I drive to work and all, but anywhere my husband can drive, he does.
4) I think vacations to cold places are awesome and would rather go to Alaska or somewhere comparable than just lay around on a beach. (I like hot places with tons to do though!) We went on a honeymoon cruise to Alaska, and people would just give us this dumb stare when we told them and ask why on earth we weren't going somewhere warm.

I do not think Michelle Obama is very fashionable. I saw a clip from the national prayer service held the day after the inauguration and what she was wearing looked awful on her and did not flatter her figure at all. I don't understand why she keeps getting praised for her fashion sense. Half the time I think she's wearing the wrong size or needs it tailored.
Now, that being said, I did like her gown for the inaugural ball and I do like her new haircut (or maybe she's just styling it differently).
