Totally NBR: so nervous!

I'm quitting today! DH and I will be moving about an hr away, although not for about 9 months... I've always wanted to do Etsy and paint and graphic design instead of the corporate type design I'm doing now. I HATE my job, I don't get paid well. So I'm going to quit now so that we can see how Etsy will work out, if I can actually make it work. I've been at this job for like 4 years and I work with friends from highschool... I'm super nervous. Deep breaths. I just hope I can make Etsy work, I've always been too scared to really just be an artist even though that's what I went to school for, suddenly I'm facing the opportunity to make a dream come true and I'm terrified it won't work. What else can I do though? Just gotta try... so wish me luck!

I have so many things I love to do that I have to prioritize what I want to start with. I think I'm going to focus on a few things at first:

1. I do paintings of kid's names where the letters are animals... I made one for Raylan and one for all of my nieces and nephews. Here's one I made for my nephew Nolan.

2. I also do portraits, but I do them in pointillist style (all little dots) I don't think I have a picture of one of those on my computer right now.

3. I did all of my wedding invitation designs and I'm working on them for my friend right now, and save the dates... I do custom illustrations and incorporate them into the designs. Here's her save the date, but it's a work in progress and has ugly fonts in it right now.

Good luck! A friend of mine from grade school does wonderfully on etsy. She is a children's book illustrator and also does family/animal caricature portraits (that's the best way I can describe it). I'm sure if you need some help navigating through etsy, she would be more than willing to give you some tips!

Wow, that's awesome! Good for you! It takes a lot of courage to do what you're doing...And sometimes you have to take a leap of faith to see just where your dream can take you!
