Any BFP w/ IVF after 40?

I am 38 but I am having an IVF baby. The first IVF was BFN. The second was IVF with ICIS and AH. With your history, I would ask your RE about both of those.

I am 40. First IVF was a BFP which turned into a blighted ovum and a BFN. Second IVF gave me a BFP and twins. I had less eggs retrieved on my 2nd IVF but apparently better quality than the first go around (I took extra supplements provided by my acu such as DHEA, COQ10, Myo-inositol, in additiion to the acu treatments). Good luck, it's definitely possible!

hi there! i actually had it all, ISCI and AH. I havent had my beta yet but my HPT says BFN. It was a 3dt of two Grade 2 8 cell, 1 Grade c 6 cell.

I am 39 and got a BFP on our first IVF (after 4 failed medicated IUIs). I am due in just about 3 weeks. There is hope!

I am 41. My first IVF with 3 Grade A embryos was a BFN. For the 2nd IVF, I was on DHEA longer than the first time, we did an endometrial biopsy 2 weeks before the IVF cycle and then I also took L-Arginine prior to the transfer to assist with my lining. This time we transferred 3 Grade A embryos, 1 B+ embryo and then a 5th embryo that he didn't give me the grade of. So, yes, we transferred 5 embryos, which is the maximum recommended for our age group. One stuck and I'm now 10 weeks pregnant with my OE!

I'll be 40 in 3.5 weeks, and am pregnant via IVF for the second time. I was fortunate to be successful on the first try each time.

Even though both cycles were successful, I had much better results (egg quantity and quality) on my second cycle back in November, using microdose lupron flare protocol, instead of straight antagonist (basically use microdose lupron the entire stims process instead of the few days of ganirelix), despite pushing 40. My info is in my sig if you want to see the difference in the two protocols.

After 8 months of trying on our own, we got a BFP on our first IVF cycle. I'm 41 and almost complete with a healthy pregnancy (so far at least). Good luck to you!

I'm another 40 year old with BFP on 1st IVF. I was 39 when we started the stimulation and turned 40 at 6-7 weeks pregnant. Good luck!

We also did ICSI and AH. I would definitely ask your doctor about an endometrial biopsy. It's super painful (just for the few seconds that they're doing it) but there have been a lot of studies coming out that it may help with implantation.

I'm 39 weeks pregnant after IVF and am 38 years old. My coworker is 42 and she is now 9 weeks pregnant after her first IVF! Hang in there, I'm sorry the first did not work for you and hope next is successful!

Sorry, not 40, but i am 39 and 13w with twins from our IVF. I also have a 5 year old that is from our first IVF. We are "unexplained infertility". With our first, we spent more than a year trying everything- testing, hsg, lap, clomid and 4 IUIs before doing IVF. IVF worked the first time for me then.

We knew we were ready for a second child now and we didn't want to waste time or money (out of pocket, our ins doesn't cover fertility) on trying IUIs or other stuff we know didn't work last time, so we jumped right in to IVF first this time. It was a little different- the protocol with my age this time. But I was able to produce some good eggs- retrieved 7, all fertilized and we did a 3 day transfer of 3 embies- 2 excellent and one good. And of course expecting twins out of that. Healthy babies so far at week 13!

So happy to read all of these success stories! I was on another fertility forum looking for some positive vibes and received nothing good!

Even the moderator chimed in on the reasons it wasn't going to work.

I am 39 (40 in June) and starting 4/2014. We need to do gender selection for a x-link defect.

I've started DHEA and CoQ10 and believing for the best!

These stories are awesome and I am so happy for the success that I am reading.

Yes, two healthy kids, both conceived via IVF after I was 40. Both embryos tested well in a chromosomal micro-array. I would highly recommend doing this test as part of your IVF cycle (although it requires a frozen transfer) because it is enormously helpful to the embryologist in choosing which embryos are most suitable to implant and lead to a viable pregnancy. I'm 42 and almost 10 weeks from ivf. I had several previous losses that were early but we are currently expecting twins and further along than we've ever been. We did icsi and ah. Also this cycle I did castor oil packs and raspberry leaf tea prior to retrieval which I believe helped my lining. Also on low course of prednisone for my autoimmune issues. Best of luck!

41 a and 29 weeks with a singleton after our first IVF. I also recommends the long Lupron protocol and supplements like DHEA, Co-Q 10, etc. The details are in my sig, but we put back 3 embryos and got lucky. Wishing you a ton of luck too. Don't give up hope.

41 and almost 22 weeks via FET. Fist IVF in early 2012 ( I was 39) was also a BFP but I miscarried. Testing of the tissues revealed no chromosome abnormalities.

I did IVF at age 40, transferred 2 embiees & 1 stuck. He is our healthy 2 yr old DS. We froze the other embryos (used ICSI). I'm now 43 years old & 37 weeks pg with our 2nd, via FET. Transferred 2, both implanted, lost 1 at 8 weeks. The remaining twin is doing well. I'm sorry it didn't work the first time, but don't give up hope!!
