Tonsillitis causing severe vommiting?

Have any of you ever heard of this? DH has been sick since Sunday night. He went to the ER today & they told him it was tonsillitis? I am having a hard time thinking that is right. Not saying he doesn't have it, but for it to make him THAT sick? I just don't know.

Re: Tonsillitis causing severe vommiting?

  • I don't know if this means anything, but I had severe tonsillitis when I was a kid and I never threw up.. until after I got them removed.

I've also never heard of that, but I don't know.

  • I don't know. I just want him to feel better & for this to pass.

I am doing everything that I can to make sure that the kids and I are staying out of his way, I just don't know what else to do.

  • Is he on antibiotics?  Could be a reaction to those maybe?

  • He might have tonsillitis but I would think the vomit is from the norovirus that is going around like crazy.

  • Yeah I'm thinking probably something added on tonsillitis? if they're inflamed. Hope he feels better soon and that you guys don't catch what he has!

  • ive have/had tonsillitis ever since i can remember, infact i FINALLY got them taken out when i was about 20. I would say i had it AT LEAST once a month from the age of 8 til about 20, I never had any issues with vomiting. Not saying it cant happen, also depends on what is causing it. If it is something like post nasal drip i can see that as a cause for the  vomiting... snot doesnt takes very good.

Is this his first time having it?

  • Honestly that doesn't sound right to me. If you feel nervous try to get into your primary care doc today. I would personally be nervous. Im sorry, I hope he gets better fast!

  • This has happened with my SD. She always gets extremely sick to her stomach whenever she has anything else going on. But once she gets started on antibiotics it usually clears up.

  • I'm sorry that I am so late in posting, but on the off chance that you read it, I'll contribute. I have had tonsillitis LOTS! I finally had my tonsils removed at almost 21. I have many times thrown up because of it. I think it depends on the kid. It was one of my common symptoms. It happened less as I got older. I hope your poor, poor dh is feeling better quickly.

  • Thanks everyone for the thoughts, turns out he has a norovirus/mono cocktail (Thanks Toni). It seems as though he is finally over the Noro part of it, just keep the LB family in your thoughts, in hopes that none of my Littles get sick. :(
