3. I've had male and female OB/GYNS. My main gyno is a male, and he also delivered DS. His wife did all my post-surgical care, though. I go to a practice with like 8 doctors, mixed sex.
The female gyno I was seeing was horrible and insensitive, so we switched after our third loss. Actually, during our third loss, my current OB did the d&c for us.
This poll was inspired from a conversation my girlfriends and I had before the Nelly Furtado concert. My friend hates her gyno. Thinks she doesn't care etc... At my office there is men & women, always use to see a woman (cuz ya know, a guy... weird!) Then one day (while pregnant) I didn't realize it was "one of those appointments" and thought he'd just listen to heard beat and I'd be on my way. Bam, next thing ya know a guy has a swab of my va-jay and anus... Great. But it wasn't that bad. I mean, it's not like I "enjoy" when a woman is down there. Then I got an IUD in after baby and a lady shoved this thing in, it hurt so bad and I ended up having to get in removed because it was put in wrong and just kept pinching me. A guy put it in next time, and took his time/bent it to "fit me" and I haven't felt it since...
SS - I don't have one right now. We changed insurance right after DD2 was born and I haven't got around to finding a new one. My PCP will do paps and prescribe BC, so I'm not too concerned yet.
My old gyno was a woman, but I don't really have a preference either way.

The gyno I switched to to try for a VBAC is a practice and I saw almost all the docs. Female and male doctors in the practice. My normal gyno is a female.
SS - I don't have one right now. We changed insurance right after DD2 was born and I haven't got around to finding a new one. My PCP does will do paps and prescribe BC, so I'm not too concerned yet.

PCP, man or woman?

My OB/Gyno is a woman. She's awesome and I love her. I've never been to a male, but not b/c I don't want to, I just haven't.
There is one male doctor in her practice but I've never seen him. She does have a co-worker (OB) named Dr. Box. She was on call the night my water broke with DS1. DH thought it was hilarious.
I've had an extensive number of gynaecologist's in my life thanks to ovarian cancer when I was little. It just seemed like women weren't as compassionate. The men OBGYN's I've had have all been wonderful, compassionate and very thoughtful in their treatment.
It's just my own experience, but that's what I've found. Not a hard and fast rule :')
I was seeing a female, then bc of the days I could go to all my OB appts I switched to a guy. I liked him at first, but he was SO unprofessional during my delivery I switched practices. Now I go to an all women practice and I LOVE my obgyn.
Both. I saw all the docs in the practice while pregnant because they rotate who's on call so you never know who you're going to see in the hospital. I primarily see the one who delivered me, a female. She's pretty decent but very matter-of-fact and really doesn't take time to talk. My favorite has been the male doctor that did my ectopic surgery. He's just gentle, kind, and takes his time answering questions and explaining things.
Male. He is gay and for some strange reason that makes me feel better about him knowing me intimately. I don't know if I would be comfortable with a straight male. He is awesome too and is the OB that all the OB RNs use. He delivered both my girls. I don't see him anymore because my Family med doc does my pap and pelvics (she is female), but I miss my OB.

A female. I go to an all female practice. I am kinda shy and would be uncomfortable with a male doctor looking at my lady bits.
I absolutely adore my OB, she is a fabulous lady! From the first time I met her, I felt like I've known her for years! You usually end up waiting forever in her office, but that's because she spends so much time with her patients.

My OBGYN is female. My GP is male and did half my first pregnancy and a few of my paps over the years. You can't be picky where I live. I'm lucky to have a doctor that doesn't leave town because it sucks here.
Female. I just feel in the case of these particular parts, ya gotta be a chick to fully understand. When men get pregnant and have periods, then they can be my gyno.
With DS, I had a male. When I tried to make my first appointment, I tried to make it with one of the females, but she was booked like 2 months out. I planned on going to him for the first appointment and then switching, but I loved him. He was sooo awesome! We recently moved, so I had to find a new one and am pretty sad about it!
Re: my gyno is a...?
Gyno - female
OB - male

I think I'm now sold on guys.

This. The thought of a woman creeps me out.
