Intense Cramps

Last night while I was sleeping, I had a dream that I was calling a nurse to tell her I was in labor and explain how bad my stomach was cramping.

All of a sudden, I woke up and realized I was having an intense cramping sensation right above my pubic bone are more on the right side and it felt like intensified menstrual cramps!

It lasted for about a minute or two, and it brought me down to all fours, and then it slowly went away. My husband was even woken up from how much it hurt me and got up to rub my back, which didnt really help too much.

After the intense part stopped, I had super mild cramping on and off for about 30 minutes, and some very mild back pain all up my back.

I also had to pee when I woke up, so I don't know if that's what started the pain, if it was a Braxton hick contraction, or what it was!?

I am a FTM, so I don't know what real contractions feel like, but I'm guessing that wasn't one? Baby has been moving all morning and I haven't felt one since the middle of last night.

Anyone else experience this, or can someone tell me what this was?

Thanks!

Re: Intense Cramps

  • I've had the same with the cramping even having a burning sensation to you. They don't happen too very often at such an intensity. My doctor said its a combination of Braxton Hicks Contractions, pelvic muscles loosening and possibly the baby pressing on certain areas. Good to know but it doesn't take away the pain! If you're overly concerned or it happens a lot I would contact your doctor there's no stupid questions and its better to be hyper vigilant than not!

  • I've been getting cramps like this as well.  Just asked my OB and they are completely normal.  They do feel like really bad cramps.  Try drinking more water and resting.  It helps!

  • If I get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night I have to sit up and roll out slowly otherwise I get a really bad cramp also.
