4 Month Wakeful SURVIVORS

Hi again!

 I just wanted to see if there were any 4 month wakeful SURVIVOR mom's out there?

My LO isn't 4 months old, but we just started having THE WORST SLEEP nights SINCE she was born... like almost worse than that.

I guess I just need some survivors to tell me that this really is just a phase and they do grow out of it... I totally want my "old" sleeping baby back.... but I'm doubtful that it will happen!

Just need some reassurance, I guess!!!!!!!!

THANKS IN ADVANCE

  • How long did this phase last for everyone? We're in the middle of it and it feels like there is no end...

  • I'd like to think my little guy is coming out of it.  He has been horrible at napping, fussing all day long and not sleep well at night.  This started about 15 weeks.  Tomorrow he'll be 19 weeks and today he's been napping for almost 2 hours already.  He napped really well yesterday too.  But I'm sure the next phase will start soon and then we'll be complaining about that!

    Also I HIGHLY recommend the following link to an Ask Moxie post where she asks readers about how to think about the 4 month wakeful. This helped a lot. Ask Moxie in general is awesome re: comments.nbsp;https://www.askmoxie.org/2012/09/bookhelpthe4monthsleepregression/comments/nbsp;

    Thank you for posting this! We had two nights of what I believe is early 4 month wakeful since L is 15 weeks on Wed. Last night was much better since he slept from 9 to 4 but I don't think we are out of the woods yet. For survivors, was every night of your 4 month wakeful period bad or would LO give you decent stretches and regress again?

  • We are on the other side of it, I think.  Itr began a couple days before he turned 4 months waking 10 times a night just to be fed or binkied, cuddled then returned to bed.  The last 3 nights he has awakened once for a bink, no cuddling needed, 2am feed and a 5 or 6 am feed, back to bed for 30 minutes to an hour. This is still one more feed than I was doing before.  ( he was only waking about 3 am then back to sleep until 6:30.  But I am once again sleeping for hours at a time.  It really does get better.  Everything the first couple years is a stage.  We will all be discussing the 8 (from seperation anxiety) and 15 (the verbal explosion) months sleep regressions before we know it.

  • We had it for about a week, maybe a day or two days less but thank goodness it didn't last longer... who knows we might not be on the other side yet...he slept well  again the last 3 nights though.

  • We are on week 3 went from 6 to 8 hrs of sleep a night to waking up every 2 to 3 hrs. I am exhausted and not sure what to do to fox this or will it fix itself.

  • No reassurances here. I'm on week 3 of this garbage...and my LO will be 5 months old on Thursday. It seems like it's pretty much neverending.
  • LO was 4 months yesterday and had her shots. The doc gave us some tips to try with sleeping. For the first time in almost 3 weeks DD STTN! We put her down still awake and would go in every two minutes to soothe her but not pick her up while she was fussy. It only took two turns. During the night the doc said to let her fuss herself back to sleep and to feed her only as a last resort. She put herself back to sleep each time! I feel like a new woman! I hope you all get sleep like this soon!!!
