What have you worked out with your new employer regarding maternity leave? Any documentation need at new hire that your job is safe? Etc...looking for insight. Thanks.
With DD I started when I was about 12 weeks along and told them a week after my start date (when I was 13 weeks). I was however recruited there by my old boss and they are a very family oriented company, so it was never an issue. I took 12 weeks off and the only difference was that I was paid 50% for STD instead of 100% because I wasn't there for a year yet.
Check with your HR as far as documentation goes, each company is different and state laws vary.

I disclosed my pregnancy during my interview (at around 13 weeks). My reasoning was that if they didn't want to hire a pregnant lady, they wouldn't be flexible with me later down the road. Then, after I was hired, I spent some time talking with HR about my options. The company is very family-friendly and easy to work with, so it wasn't an issue to openly discuss. However, I did find it helpful to sit down and chat with a co-worker who had just returned from maternity leave about her experience (is there anyone who has taken maternity leave there recently?). Last week I presented my plan. I asked for more than the 'standard' amount of time, but presented myself as being somewhat flexible (ie I could come back at 12 weeks part-time if they didn't feel comfortable with me taking closer to 16 weeks). I know it can be anxiety provoking if you work somewhere that isn't particularly supportive. I'll be thinking about you. Hope it's easy and you come up with a plan you're happy with!! Cheers!
Unfortunately, you're not entitled to any leave. There are multiple criteria you and the company have to meet before you qualify for FMLA and are guaranteed a job back. You don't meet the being employed >1 year part, so it's not applicable.
I started a new job shortly before getting pregnant with DD#2. I was there 10.5 months before having her. They let me take 8 weeks, but the employee handbook only guaranteed 4 weeks for women there <1 year. I only took 2 days of vacation for my brother's wedding and no sick leave in that time. So I was able to use sick time and vacation to cover most of my leave. Basically, like PPs, most employers will work with you but they don't have to.
