I wish i could tell you. My baby shower is this weekend and there not a whole lot that has been "flying off" the registry. Im thinking people jsut go out & buy whatever they want even if you have a registry. Good Luck i hope you get everything you REALLY want!
Aaah! We can be baby shower twins! Mine's this weekend as well (actually sitting here writing my hostesses a thank you note to go with their gift).
I first noticed items being marked as purchased 1.5 - 2 weeks ago, but only the big ticket items (bought by immediate family members). For a week now, nothing has changed. It was in no way a big or over-the-top registry (we've bought most of the essentials already), just enough to give people an idea as to what would be useful to us.
So, six or seven gifts marked as purchased, but an estimated 20 or so people will be attending. I'm curious to see what I end up unwrapping on Sunday!
Before my first shower it was literally one day....I had checked on Friday and nothing much. The shower was Sunday and there were several things people had purchased. Tomorrow is my 2nd shower and there are still tons of items that have not been purchased. People seem to like my Target registry better than my BRU. Only 7 items off BRU, but 29 off Target have been purchased. We do have some gift cards so will just have to buy whatever is left over that we really want/need. People may go shopping tonight so I will see what I get tomorrow!

I had my first shower last Sunday, and mine was all Friday and Saturday that it started getting bought. Everyone was complaining how a lot of my stuff was now out of stock since I registered too long ago, though, so I added more...and I'm anxiously awaiting the same thing happening before my other shower that's next weekend!
My shower is tomorrow and nothing has been purchased off of either registries. I'm assuming people are late shoppers like me and will shop tonight or tomorrow morning.
I noticed people buying off of mine about a week or two before the shower. BUT 80% of the gifts people bought at Babies R Us, off of the registry, did not even show up as purchased. Not sure why that is!
People do NOT know how to use registries first of all. I got FOUR of the same bathtub I registered for and it was still unmarked on my registry. Unfortunately, I had 40 people at my shower and although I got so many amazing things gifts, people just end up buying what they want. As PP said, I was registered at Target and actually received about $400 in Target gift cards...

My first shower is next week, and the larger shower is the following week. A few things have been purchased, but most of that stuff was Christmas gifts. I already know that some of the people coming to the showers are anti-registry, so I'm hoping that those people get gift receipts. Not to sound ungrateful, because we really are thankful for ANY gifts, but I don't want to end up with tons of stuff that we don't need and zero of the things that we do need. However, we've been really lucky to get lots of awesome hand-me-downs, so the showers are just the icing on the baby cake!
My shower is this weekend too! So far, other than stuff that I know was purchased by family, nothing has went "flying off" the registry.. My cousin said that when she had hers, she got a lot of repeat gifts because people don't bother using your registry to check out their items. She suggested putting a note in the shower invitations kindly asking people to do so, which I opted not to do... and now I'm thinking it was a decent idea. I'm a big time registry stalker and have seen very little get checked off the registry - I'm hoping for pleasant surprises at the shower! lol
So far only one item has been purchased from my registry and it already came in the mail. My cousins who live too far away to attend had my pack'n'play shipped to me. I know a couple of things that are being bought as my friends can't keep a secret to save their life, but like a PP said, I've gotten so many hand me downs that the shower will be just a bonus. I just wish it were here as my family is adamant I don't buy any of the "big stuff" before my shower so I can't set up the nursery.
My shower was Saturday and only family, my best friend, and three other friends bought items off of my registry (luckily it was all of the big items). Everything else was clothing. My daughter can wear three outfits daily for the first 6 months of her life without any repeats, but will be almost naked from 6 mos on. :-)
