Will I get used to my Macbook?

DH gave me a macbook for Mother's Day since my regular laptop was on the verge of dying (very sweet, I know). ?I just can't get used to it. ?I feel like I have to relearn everything I know and it makes me uncomfortable. ?Everyone says these things are great but I just don't feel it. ?Will I learn to love it?

Re: Will I get used to my Macbook?

  • I instantly fell in love with my first Mac in 2000-- what bugs you?

A lot of people HATE the mouse, but you can get a regular mouse that plugs into your USB?

  • Loading the player...
  • Trying to relearn keyboard shortcuts is one thing that bugs me. ?Working with my pictures is another thing...I can't figure out how to rename them, etc. ?So what are some things you love about it? ?Maybe they will rub off on me :) ?Thank you!

  • yes, it's soooo user friendly, but it does take some getting used to if you're used to a PC. But once you get used to it, you'll never go back.

  • We got an iMac a couple years ago, and while I still don't know how to do as much on it as a PC, I still love it. It took me many years to learn everything I did on a PC - you learn whatever is most important at the time, I guess. I expect it'll take a while before I really get everything down. But the Mac runs a lot faster and never crashes. I love those Mac vs. PC commercials, b/c I feel like they're so true. I don't know if it's a case of, "if you don't instantly love it, you never will," or not, but maybe you could try getting the manual out and learning the apps? Also, Mac stores have counters where you can bring your Macbook and they will go over things with you, whatever you want. Maybe you'd feel better about it if you get some crash courses? I know I feel a lot better about a gadget the more savvy I become with it.
  • I love iPhoto so much-- I love that you can just plug any kind of camera in, and iPhoto is like "Oh! ?Hey! Pictures! ?Can I add those to your photo library?" ?You can also just drop and drag stuff into iPhoto, so you don't necessarily have to rename, and resave stuff.

I really like Safari, too. ?Photobooth is fun and adorable (and my kids like it, too).

LOVE the magnifying glass at the top right corner-- you can search for anything there and sometimes when I download stuff or install stuff or ?save documents, I forget where I put them, so the search function saves me some time.

Time machine is great, too, because after the initial set up, you can back up all your files in like 5 minutes or less.?

There's a really good Mac how-to manual at the Apple store-- we got it for my ILs when they made the switch from PC, and it helped them a lot.

(but really, I just love the way my MacBook looks)?

I'm still not crazy about the mac, because it took so long to use everything, and still don't know a lot. We DH gave me the option to get a PC laptop last month, I opted for a Macbook instead, the more you use it, the more you'll love it.?
  • Generally, you are probably over thinking "how to do it" way too much lol.

To rename pics, just click on the name of it once or twice then you will see the jpg982379 whatever turn blue and you can type whatever.

And if you want to "right click" you just hit ctr and click.

I love ours.  MH just got a gps that wasn't compatible with mac, so we just went over to the pc side and it worked.
