Any tips on how to lose weight a little faster? I put on nearly 50 lbs while pregnant (I know....way too much). I have lost all but 9 lbs of the baby weight and would like to lose about 20 more after that.
I am trying to watch what I eat and am trying to exercise when I can. I am an accountant to tax season is really busy and I haven't had the time to work out as much as I would like.
I am losing about .5 - 1 lb per week. Does anyone have any ideas/tips to make the lbs drop a little faster.
Thanks!
Re: Fitness/diet experts please come in!
weight watchers is great for this... even if you pay for only a few meetings to learn about all the healthy eatings and then go about it on your own. i lost 30lbs in 3 months right before finding out i was preg.
Also park far, use the stairs... eat veggies and fruit. cut out soda....
the norm.
sorry if this didnt help much =/
When you're sitting at your desk, lean back and flutter your legs. Do it a few times for like 30 seconds each time. It will help tighten your tummy. I should take my own advice.
Also, eat breakfast. I think not eating breakfast makes one want to snack and eat larger portions throughout the day.
Good luck!
Tons of water! Eat breakfast. Portion control, try not to "emotionally eat". Try WW it works especially if your super busy.
Exercise definitely helps. I do strength training 30 mins twice a week. My trainer recommends Jillian Michaels DVDs for at home. GL!
As for the cutting out processed foods.....what else can I eat except fruits, veggies, chicken? Is pasta off limits? Sorry if that's a dumb question.
I have 30 day shred and might try that. Do you need free weights to do it?
Thanks again!
If you are only 20lbs overweight, 1lb a week is a very good rate to lose weight. To lose and keep off weight you should stick to a .5 to 2 lb rate depending on how much you have to lose.
Besdies fruit & veggies you can eat whole grains, nuts, dairy, etc. You are not stuck to just veggies.
When I was in weight loss mode PP (I lost 65lbs) my typical day was 400 cal breakfast usually oatmeal with a scoop of PB and a banana or a homemade egg mcmuffin and a piece of fruit.
a 200-300 cal snack greek yogurt and a piece of fruit
400 cal salad, sandwich or soup for lunch
another snack usually apple and pb or hummus and carrots. Sometimes a handful of nuts and a cheese wedge.
Dinner was another 400 cals of meat, veggie, and starch or some kind. If I overate at a previous meal, I dropped the starch.
I am really big, just over 6' so I am alloted more calories during the day than an average woman. You can cut back on any of the snacks or meals, but I recommend keeping breakfast as your highest calorie meal. The key is to eat more filling foods. Proteins and fiber keep you full longer than processed crap. GL!

Thanks! It is helpful to see what u eat. I think my problem may be that my highest cal meals is probably dinner.
I usually just have a cereal bar for breakfast and a sandwich/salad/soup for lunch and a bigger dinner. Usually chicken with rice and a veggie or pasta of some kind.
I am not a snacker so I don't really have to worry about that.
bump burp
50 lbs isn't necessairly too much to gain while PG first off. Second, loosing that much per week is excellent!
My eating rule (and especially if you are BFing!) is to never consider calories, I eat all whole fat foods (nothing reduced or fat free, unless it is naturally so) and I do this because there is lots of research (and history) to show that our body most knows how to break down fats in their most complete form (least amount of processing). Also, I read all ingredient labels. If I can't imagine a single ingredient growing or existing as it is written on the label, out in the world, I don't eat it. That ensures that it is whole (that is, with the exception of quality dark chocolate... that's processed and I couldn't care less!).
But truly, cardio is the key. I know it's hard to make happen, but if you are eating any where near to as I described about 98% of the time and you do cardio for 3 hrs min. per week... your body will, in time, drop what it needs.
I totally agree with the full fat statement. I started losing weight with lean cuisines and was always still hungry and bloated. The sodium content was insane. Once I stuck to real ingredients I felt so much better.
I will say that I don't agree that cardio is key. A well rounded workout with cardio and weights will help you more in the long run.

You are so very right. I think I'm so used to talking about this with my Pilates clients who already have the weights/strength resistance training down, that I forget to include it. Building muscle is key to burning more calories, faster!
I like your idea of reading the labels and kind of going from there. I may try that. Thanks.
Maybe my expectations are a little high. I tend to be pretty hard on myself in the wieght department. I was thinking my goal was to lose 25-30 pounds from now until May but maybe I need to ease up on that goal a little. Maybe shoot for 25-30 pounds by August??
Yes! Slow weight loss is loss that will stay off. It took me almost the whole year to lose my 65lbs, but I did it and that is all that matters. I still had about 20 to go when I got pregnant. So once I am done BFing I will go back to calorie counting because it is what worked for me. You need to start small so reading labels will go a long way for you. GL!
