l know that they are an estimate and that everyone is different... but is it true that FTMs go late? Are there any 2nd time moms on here that can comment?
Very true that FTMs tend to go later. It's just a general rule, though, and there are plenty of exceptions to it. It helps if you're a FTM to have everything ready at 37 weeks but be prepared to not have that baby until about 41 weeks. If you go earlier, lucky you, but that way you are not super frustrated to be overdue.
It depends. You are more likely to go late with your first than subsequent children, but that doesn't mean that's going to be true for everyone. My cousin has had 4 pregnancies and her first was 3 weeks early, second a week early, third was three days before the due date, and the fourth was late by about a week. With her, she did the opposite of what's "normal". But her first pregnancy was also twins and the last had some issues where the baby was wrapped around the cord several times which was preventing labor from starting. So, it all depends.
I keep saying I'll go late. Mainly because I don't want to be complaining when my due date passes and annoy my co-workers. So I keep saying that I'm due at the end of July, but I have August 3rd stuck in my head as the date I will actually deliver. We'll see how well that holds up when I'm big, sore, hot, and grouchy.

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. I’ve been up linked and downloaded, I’ve been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading. I’m a high-tech low-life. A cutting edge, state-of-the-art bi-coastal multi-tasker and I can give you a gigabyte in a nanosecond! I’m new wave, but I’m old school and my inner child is outward bound. I’m a hot-wired, heat seeking, warm-hearted cool customer, voice activated and bio-degradable. I interface with my database, my database is in cyberspace, so I’m interactive, I’m hyperactive and from time to time I’m radioactive.
I had DD at 41 weeks, so in my case it was true. But I was only in the hospital for about 4.5 hrs total before she was born. I said I'd gladly go late again if I can have that easy of a labor again.
But yeah, not always true. My friend and two co-workers who all had babies around the same time as me all delivered at least a week early. And my mom had her first 2 weeks early, second right on EDD, and third more than a week late. You just never can tell.
Went into labor day after due date with first she was born two days after due date at 424am. My second my water broke 2 weeks early and born that day. I have history of GD and would have been induced at 39 weeks if water hadn't broke. When my first baby was born my GD had gone undiagnosed and my placenta was already deteriorating. So, I expect the same with this one I will be induced be for 40 weeks I am all for maybe 37 weeks because my first one 10pounds 12 oz my second two weeks early 9 pounds 9 oz
