Talk to me about the "wall"

What changes and what was your experience?  I am trying to decide if I have hit this wall or if something is wrong with me..... I had to sit down several times during a quick grocery shopping trip with my mom today. I have a non stop headache all day and night, and of course I am feeling the normal discomfort of carrying twins. Last week I could function.....this week I can't :(

Re: Talk to me about the "wall"

  • I want to hear about this too.  I have felt like total and utter crap for the last 3 weeks.  I'll have one good day where I can run errands and do laundry followed by 1-2 bad days where I am exhausted just sitting around the house with the boys.  How much worse do I need to expect this to get?

  • Yep, sounds like you've hit it, but I will offer some words of encouragement! In my experience, I hit that "wall" around 28 weeks, but it wasn't all downhill from there. I still had good days and bad days. Hopefully you will still have some good days. For me, it got bad and stayed bad from 34 weeks and on. I know that last part wasn't very encouraging, sorry! Insert smiley face! Keep up the good work!

  • I think I hit the wall at 24 weeks. I had constant back pain and my vagina felt like it was going to fall off. One good thing about bed rest is those aches are no longer an issue!  Now my belly is starting to get uncomfortable, but it could be another growth spurt for the babies. Hang in there!

  • I've been going back and forth.  The first couple weeks of January - like 23-24 weeks pg, I was exhausted and my back was killing me.  I picked up a renewal of energy around 24 - 25 weeks, then I was sick so I felt like I was dying last week at 25 weeks, but now I feel pretty good at 26 weeks.  I think I can work for at least another two weeks past my next doctor's appointment on 2/4.  Granted, I don't walk distances, rest as much as possible, and use those little motorized scooters at Target and the grocery store, but my back isn't killing me like it was and my cankles have been staying away for the most part.  I really want to get the nursery going, but it's at a stage where I can't do anything because of my major lifting restrictions.  So frustrating!  I'm worried it'll finally get to the point where I can help and then the wall will come back :(

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

  • I am 33w and have been there. I have good days and bad days. I had a great day on Sat and have felt aweful since then. Enjoy the good days when you get them. I feel like time is as a standstill. I don't do any chores at all. I would never be able to grocery shop right now. So, I think you need to lighten up your load and stay off your feet as much as you can.  Staying off of your feet is the only way to get through this.

  • It comes and goes for me. 20 weeks was rough, then 28 weeks. Now at 30 I feel ok to run some errands and do some stuff around the house. But I have to do a little at a time. Fri is my last day of work and I'm ready- even working from home the past 3 weeks.

  • For me it wasn't a one time thing. I'd feel like I hit it and then I'd have a series of good days following that only to feel like I hit it again the next week. It's so tough but you guys CAN do it! Just be gentle with yourselves and try to get as much rest as possible.

  • I kept thinking I had hit the wall, but then I would feel so much better again after going to see my chiropractor. It helped me a lot with walking, sitting, and rolling over in bed, and sometimes with the positions the babies were in.

  • I hate to say it but it's not going to get better Wink

I was definitely having trouble getting around at 29w, by 38w it was all I could do to waddle from the couch to the bathroom.

I didn't really have m/s early on in my PG but by 31w, I was losing my breakfast 2-3x/week. There was just no room left and I things were changing hormonally.

Rest as much as you can and don't feel guilty about it. Your #1 job right now is keeping you and those babies healthy and cooking!

I will say, 3rd tri went by really quickly so hopefully it will for you too Smile

  • I'm already there, with good days and bad ones. I went to the store today, and came home feeling like crap for the rest of the day. I'm just trying to rest as much as I can, and get my oldest two kiddos to help out. I'll be 29 weeks on Saturday.
