So I went through my first cycle of Clomid with no problems. Here I am at CD16, and I haven't ovulated and it looks like I won't either. My GYN called yesterday and said my insulin is too high although everything else looks good- my cholesterol and BP are fine, as is everything else. She told me high insulin will prevent ovulation and she doesn't want me to do another cycle of Clomid until my numbers come down. I am already on 2000 mg of Metformin a day, so we are raising it to 2500 mg. I am so disappointed and so discouraged, and we are only 3 months in to this. Has anyone else experienced something similar? My aunt did, but she was 33 when she eventually got pregnant through IUI. My doc said since I am 36 that it's not looking good for me right now

If I remember correctly you said your insurance wont let you see an RE yet but you might want to see if they will let you see a regular Endcrinologist because high insulin levels can cause other problems besides IF. I'm also curious if you have had any bloodwork or ultrasound monitoring yet. As I mentioned before, OBs are not the best when it comes to getting you KU and yours should not have told you that it wasn't looking good simply because you are 36.
The one thing I have learned through this process is that you have to do your homework and be your own advocate to make sure you get the care you deserve. I don't mean to sound pushy but I have wasted so much precious time that I cannot get back blindly trusting & not speaking up and I would hate to see the same thing happen to you.
I know it's a frustrating process but hang in there. We are all here to help you through it!!!
