We transitioned DD to a toddler bed two nights ago and last night I found her sleeping on the floor in front of the bed. I put her back in bed and spread a quilt on the floor because I don't want her sleeping on the carpet. When I checked on her this morning she was on the floor again. Anyone have this happen? Her bed is her crib converted to a day bed so there isn't room for a rail or something to keep her in bed. What do I do about this?
Re: Sleeping on floor.
haha.. DS did this for about a month and a half. He has a rail on his toddler bed but would just climb out and sleep near his door. We couldn't even open it.
So we laid down a few blankets and eventually started leaving his door open with a gate so we could cover him at night before bed..
silly kids!
oh! after vacation- we would listen at his door (or with our video monitor) and if we heard him move at all, we'd open the door and tell him to lay back down. We did this 2 or 3 times for a few nights and now he's stayed in bed since. But I dont know if it's because of that (we tried before vaca and it didn't work) or if he just grew out of it or whatever..
I learned it's not a big deal- just make her as comfy as possible:)
Yes. DD slept on the floor for about a year after we transitioned her to a toddler bed. We tried putting her back in bed for a while but she always crawled back down onto the floor. Eventually we gave in and put a folded up blanket on the floor beside her bed for her and she stayed there until we moved and got her a big girl bed. We were not sure that she would sleep on it since she had been so stubborn up until then, but for some reason she was ready and has slept in her new bed every day since then.
It appears to be a stage. I know it has been discussed on this board before. They eventually grow out of it.
We transitioned DD to a bed back in June. I would say that 90% of the time, she still falls asleep on the floor. I let her nap on the floor. At night, I move her into her bed after she has fallen asleep.
Maybe try putting the mattress in the middle of the floor? It didn't work for us, but maybe it will work for you?
