Thank you all for thinking of us during this difficult time. Here is the latest.
I couldn't update after Monday's appointment. I was too busy wailing in bed. My ultrasound showed a fluid level of 2. My doctor said that my maternal level of AFP (Alpha fetoprotein) came back at a level that shows neural tube defects. There was talk of termination.
I went to the specialist Tuesday, and she said that the amnio results of the AFP showed normal levels. My level was elvated, but the baby's was not. My fluid was a 5.4. I was cautiously happy, but scared to get too hopeful.
I go to a movie with my mom to get my mind off of everything for a couple of hours. I go home, and tell my kindergarten team what the latest info is.
At 4, right as offices are closing, I get a call from the genetic counselor, and she says that my level was elevated. Yes, we knew that. Then she says that when it is elevated, they look at baby's to see if it is as well. Baby's level came back elevated.
I WAS JUST TOLD THAT MORNING THAT IT WAS NORMAL.
My life has turned into a roller coaster, and I don't even know what to think. I am praying like a mad woman.
If you click the picture of my son at the bottom it will take you to my blog which explains in more detail.

For what it's worth I had the same issue with conflicting drs and opinions. I chose to only see my MFM dr because DH and I felt much more comfortable with him and his plan for dd and I. Regular OB was great when I was a "normal" pregnancy but once issues started coming she was all over the place. I know this is the least of your worries but thought I would share that I had a similar situation with differing answers and drs.
