An HCG Question

Hi Ladies,

I am wondering about your HCG levels. On January 8th my first blood draw was 37 10/11dpo. Ten days later on January 18th it was 4,771. My doctor made me do a third blood draw to follow the numbers up past 10,000 before they'd schedule an ultrasound which I had never heard of, and on January 28th it was 71,140.

That just seemed very high to me! I'm thrilled, but after all of the Twins on this board it's got me nervous. Per the Baby Center Doubling Calculator once it's over 10,000 it doubles about ever 96 hours, but mine showed it doubled every 60 hours.

I feel so dramatic and I'm sure there's just a singleton in there since twins don't run in my or DH's families, but I also never had to follow my numbers that high and it caught me off guard.

    So you're about 6.5 weeks? No that's not high.
    6 weeks LMP: 1,080 to 56,500 mIU/ml
    7 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 to 229,000 mIU/ml

    I read in a book or somewhere that as long as your levels keep going up not to worry. And the range in which they could fall is huge. I wouldn't stress about the twin thing yet.

    Im 8w 4d an drs not been charting ny hcg levels... Should i be worried? Im still waiting for ny first us apt in 4wks

    No.  Doctors usually don't monitor the levels unless you have a history of loss.  This is my first pregnancy and I only got a blood draw so I could get a referral from my insurance (Tricare).  I was never given my HcG levels other than on the results it said Positive - High.

    This. It is not standard to get betas. You (usually) only get them with a history of loss or are undergoing fertility treatment. I did not have any with my son.

    I had an Emergency ultrasound on Monday due to bleeding and clotting....baby measured exactly 6w0d with a HB of 118....my hCG was 108,452!
