Mil monday

I wrote a coupe weeks ago that my mil would try and make DDs party all about DHs birthday. Well it's been over a week since her party and she's still saying how sad it is that we didn't do a cake for DH or sing happy birthday to him. For heavens sake woman, he's a grown man letting his child have her special day... Let it go!

Re: Mil monday

  • My FIL's girlfriend is a pediatric nurse practitioner. I posted on facebook how Nat was puking and she has messaged me everyday since asking how Nat was doing and giving me advice to help make her feel better. I know her heart is in the right place, but it's starting to bug me! Her advice Day 1 or 2 can't be too much different than Day 4, 5, 6...

Yeah, not that big of a deal, but still.

  • My 11 month old ate two pieces of fast food pizza for dinner friday night. I split blame between H and MIL. H can be a complete dimwit when it comes to healthy choices, but seriously. TWO ADULTS made the decision to feed the babyonly junk for dinner?!?
  • He told her he had a great birthday with our little family. Apparently that's not good enough

  • Nothing today, just that the countdown is on...she's coming in just over two weeks.  Guess I better clean my house (not like her house is ever clean but still...)

  • I know this is small in the grand scheme of things, and I am grateful for her help BUT...

My MIL asked if she could get the snacks for Paul's Sunday birthday get together. Dh said I should let her help, so I said okay. We decided on 4-5 things, she said okay, I even made her a list. That was a week ago. She has called me EVERY day since then checking to make sure that is really want. She is so scared to screw it up, is what she says. I am pretty sure she just doesn't like what I asked her to get. I finally just told her to get whatever she wants.

I'm not sure exactly how your H's birthday was celebrated, but it seems to me like she's trying to say you didn't do a good enough job making her (adult) baby boy feel special. She sees you making a big deal about your baby, and she wants to do the same with her's. I hope it's just a phase and she'll come to her senses in a couple of years.

that's exactly what she's doing. He's the only boy ad the baby if the family so its double hard for her to see it. I get where she's coming from but we don't even make a big deal out of my birthday and its in June.... Months after theirs.

That sucks that your mil can't handle a tear... I'm sorry! I wouldn't want her to babysit either!

  • Today I am feeling a bit guilty about having harm thoughts about my MIL earlier. I was a little sad at Christmas that they didn't have something for LO, but had obviously done a lot for their older grandson who lives near them. Then on Friday we received an enormous box in the mail that was full of just a ton of great outfits for Katherine. They really knocked themselves out shopping for her. So, though it was belated they certainly did well by her. So- more of an bad DIL vibe for myself. :-)

  • Mine's about DH's grandma. Great grandma (her mom) passed away on the 19th and her funeral was Friday. She kept bugging BIL to get a picture of her in her casket. Um... weird much? I really hope she's not planning on showing it to people!  I had blown up a picture of great grandma and DD that I took at Christmas and put it on canvas (its how I decorate my stairwell) and took it to display at the funeral. Gma thought I brought it for her to keep, which honestly I don't have a problem with. But then she kept saying she wanted to frame it even though DH and I told her a few times each that it won't fit in a frame because of the canvas - it's made to be frameless. I told her I'd be happy to have one printed for her if she wants to frame it and she said something along the lines of if she didn't get it now she'll never get it. So basically she called me a flake. I'm pretty sure she's already bought a frame and we'll be having this conversation again.

BIL has been living with her so she would have help taking care of great gma (who lived with her). He told her a couple weeks ago that he was planning on moving out, back to their hometown, and she went ballistic! She even called DH to vent about how "everyone is leaving her" and asked when we're planning on moving away (even though we're not). She's the one who left their hometown an hour and half away for her new husband (who has since passed). I mean I get it, she's outlived pretty much all of her family (mom, both children, husband and ex husband) and DH and BIL are all she has left. But for goodness' sake, the man is almost 28 years old! You have to let him live his life!
