Ugh!

My iron pill smells awful and tastes awful! If I don't drink a bottle of water, I'm nauseous! And every bottle of water I drink means an extra trip to the bathroom every hour!

Anyone have any tips to mask the odor?

Re: Ugh!

  • Coat it in chocolate?

Ok. There was supposed to be a little winky guy there. So I'll just type out: wink wink.

  • Have you tried plugging your nose when you take it?  I know that seems annoying but not smelling it might help you get it down.  Either that or change pills.  I took Feosol FE during my entire pregnancy with DS and didn't have any issues with that.

  • I like the chocolate idea except that any calcium will counteract the iron. Try a glass of OJ. It will mask the flavor and help your body process the iron. That said, the only solution for frequent bathroom trips is delivery. Sigh!

  • Love the chocolate idea, minus the "Don't take with dairy." So I'll try it with OJ.
  • I have a hard time with vitamins so I always eat something before I take them. If I take them on an empty stomach my stomach will bother me for atleast an hour.

  • I cannot swallow those huge nasty smelling vitamins either so I found these gummy prenatal vitamins at Wal-Mart and showed them to my Dr. which said they were fine plus they have 100% of your daily folic acid you need in the first trimester. So I reccomend those!
