Just curious:
If you test ON the day of missed period, can you still get a negative? I know you can definitely get them BEFORE the date of the missed period. But I wasn't sure about the day OF missed period. I am SLIGHTLY irregular (meaning cycle length varies between 28-32 days). Today is day 32. No period. BFN on the test.
Could just be I'm late and cycle is off. But I wasn't sure if anyone actually knew the answer to that question.
Thanks in advance.
Re: When can you get false negatives?
Yeah, 28-32 days is not SLIGHTLY irregular at all.
I'm sure some people would say they get a "false negative" then, but my guess is you simply O'd later and thus your period will "be later"

That's what I figured! Thanks.
And I didn't mean to write "false" negative. LOL. I just had "false positive" on my brain and I typed it out. Sorry bout that!
Oh Lord. No way! That would be terribly wrong.
This.
Why is this a hard concept?
HPTs detect HCG at a certain level, if you test before your HCG reaches that level you will get a negative. It is not a "false negative," it just means that you tested too early.

Yes, yes, I know. Please read my response to her. I didn't mean to write that. I had the term "false positive" on my brain, so it was accidentally written out in my question, but if you look at the more than just the title line I never referred to it as thus because I knew better!
Eh. I'm PMSing and my post was probably b!tchier than I meant. I just hate the term "false negative." So many women claim to get a "false negative" when actually they just tested too early.

No worries
I just don't want you thinking I'm an idiot. LOL
I agree with this. Unless you got a faulty test (but I think if the test was faulty, you wouldn't get a control line...)
**lurker**
this is completely incorrect.
I experienced a "false negative" 3 times! and it was the doctors tests.. so I requested to have blood drawn, and test me that way.. since I knew something was off.. and I had gotten a faint line with a urine test at home.
my beta was 185 .. so I was definately pregnant. False negatives are common. and I was already 2 weeks late on my period. they do happen.
