praying im not alone

so i am 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow...at 5 weeks i spotted the brown spotting and went to the er and they said everything looked fine on ultra sound...my blood work came back normal and everything...well next week is suppose to be me period week and it has happened again...no red spotting no cramping no pain just brown spotting...is anyone else having this or and i like the ugly duckling lol...from what i have read online as long at its not dark red, not cramping, or have labor pains (being my first bby idk wat those are but im sure if i had them i would know)...but nothing just brown spotting around the times im suppose to get my period...and i dont want to run to the er every time this happens if its just my body being a weirdo lol...

Re: praying im not alone

  • I had spotting at 8 weeks (give or take). My OB said it was likely the baby burrowing deeper into my uterine lining. Spotting is normal, heavy bleeding is not.

  • I was told that spotting is normal, along with some minor cramps. Bright red blood and a heavy flow, with painful cramps is not.

Bleeding does not always mean miscarriage either. You might have a bleed, but it's best to get checked out if you have bright red blood and painful cramps.

  • Believe me there's no such thing as being too careful. Honestly you can read what's normal and what's not but when it comes to your body you have your own norm. It seems its normal since you have no other symptoms like severe cramping or irritation down there so you should be fine . Otherwise I'd say take it easy maybe a little more resting just incase you need it :
  • thanks for the replies...i am thinking that this is just how i am pregnant...lol...since its my first one i really dont know wat normal is for me lol...have a dr apt in 2 weeks to hear heart beat and wat not since i have had the brown spotting they wanted to get me in early just to ease my mind...thought this was very nice since the dr office i go to usually makes u wait till ur 12th week :)...i will call them monday and keep them updated on what going on...glad i started a journal so next time i know wats normal and wats not for me lol...
  • I had spotting until 12 weeks last pregnancy and had a healthy baby!
  • yeah i have almost gone thorugh a box of pantiliners my husband things its gross and to most it probably is but i keep mine to show the dr wen i go and see him so he can see and monitor wat i am taking about (i put them in ziplock baggies with the date...during a day i nvr ever fill up a pantiliner...mostly see it when i am wiping lol...
  • I had almost 3 days of spotting week 5, week 6 two days, week t one day. I went for my first appointment told the doctor that every Thursday since week 5 she didn't seem to concerned. I did freak out the first two times. I keep hearing as long as there is no red and clotting it is normal. Hang in there!!!!!
  • i woyuld like to do that but since there is a history of miscarriages on both sides of our families my dr wants to be on top of it incase...

That's probably going a little over board... A doctor sees a lot of things, but he probably doesn't want to see a collection of two week old panty liners.  Just tell him and he'll take your word for it. I know spotting is scary though.

Did your doctor ask you to do that so s/he could see? Otherwise I think that is going a little overboard.

I agree, I really wouldn't worry about doing this.  I'm not really sure what the doctor would say, not that you should be self-conscious in front of your doctor but if you tell him spotting he will know what you mean.

This is disgusting. Please, for the love of all things holy, throw them away. Your doctor does not want to see that. If you want your doctor to know what your spotting has been like, keep a little journal (i.e. Jan 23rd: brown, 2x today).

    Gross.

  • Brown spotting can be totally normal. I dpotted around seven weeks with my DD for a week. I've been spotting brown again this pg, from Sunday through yesterday off and on. I have an ultrasound On Wed. I know it's hard not to stress.

A journal is an awesome idea. Keeping old pantyliners is really disgusting, I'm having a hard time imagining your doc asked you to do that.

I'm with everyone else here, it's not necessary and it's gross. Telling your doctor what's going on is plenty of info. He does NOT need to see old used liners. Not to mention, looking at old liners will have absolutely no bearing on your doctor diagnosing or preventing or even just telling you your risk of miscarriage.
