We are having my daughter baptized when she is 5 in a few months. Obviously a baby baptism gown isn't going to work but she needs to be in white. Do department stores sell First Communion dresses, or do I need to go to a specialty store like a religious store or something to browse dresses? I was looking at Easter dresses but I'd really prefer something all-white.

David's Bridal has their clearance section too so I'd say go ahead and check there. They had a full spectrum of dresses depending on your budget so that's one option. They seem to have a lot of super simple dresses this season for better or worse...
JCP and Sears will have more in-store once it gets a little closer. Right now it's not close so a lot of them don't have this seasons dresses yet.
The local religious stores that sell FC dresses and school uniforms may be a place to check. The place DD gets her uniforms from has a decent selection so that type of store would be worth checking.
We're likely going to order from online... Amazon has had some neat dresses. Sophia's Style, LightInTheBox is the one site that I have seen TONS of dress style options.
Thanks, ladies. I also found a website called Pink Princess that has a ton to choose from. I don't want to break the bank on it but it seems like I can get a nice dress for under $100, which I am happy about!

I just saw one on Childrens place website under special occasion. They have accessories too that you could use the 25% off coupon on & get free shipping. I've seen them at Jcp too.
I'm a little late with this response, but for future viewers my advice when looking for a toddler baptism gown or a baptism dress for an older child, communion dresses are an excellent idea BUT many sites that sell communion dresses will typically only display sizes 6 and up. It is always a good idea to phone the online store and ask if the dress you are interested comes in a smaller size. Often the dress will run in smaller sizes they just aren't displayed. As the owner of The Catholic Faith Store we helped many parents fit baptism outfits for children outside of the infant size range. You can see this year's communion dresses at www.CatholicFaithStore.com and please call us if you don't see the size you need.
Re: Where to buy First Communion dress?
Also, One Small Child (used them for DS's baptism and their customer service is awesome!) has 2 really pretty ones:
