I am 36 (DH is 39) and we have been ttc for the last 6 months. I have PCOS so I know this journey will not be easy at all.. My cycle has been regular for the last 15 months.
I have a appt with a new OB/GYN on Monday. So crossing my fingers and legs that he can help get us on the right track.
I need all the support I can get...
Re: Newbie here
welcome!
there are a lot of ladies over on the trouble TTC board with PCOS that have a lot of good info to share. One of the first thinkgs they will tell you is to ditch your obgyn and go to an RE...
good luck!

Welcome to the board! Having PCOS myself I would recommend that you push to see an RE as soon as you can - check with your insurance because some make you wait so long before moving onto a specialist.
OB/GYNs are not specialists when it comes to getting you KU and despite their good intentions can cause you to lose precious time, energy, & money. This is a great board full of information & support so good luck!
I haven't had any experience with PCOS but if you start taking Clomid, make sure that the OB/GYN is monitoring you closely with ultrasounds. It can cause cysts and other complications, I would start researching the medication so you know what to expect. I also started out with taking Clomid but that was with a RE monitoring me.
You might want to get an idea as to what REs are in your area even though you have to wait 3 treatments until you can see one. I regretted not calling sooner and had to wait a few months to even meet the doctor due to him already having so many patients. If you have more questions ask away! Good luck to you!
Also to the lady that felt guilty about posting cause she hadn't been ttc as long as others...we all have a path to walk, some start early some start later, your journey is no less significant than anyone elses :

ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive. Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)
DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!
I have the RE already in line... He was recommended by my primary doctor and already has my records and knows that I must complete the three cycles first.
Make sure you get Dh a SA first and that you get an HSG before doing anything. Your OBGYN should prescribe this but you need to bring it up at the appoitnment and demand it. Clomid is serious meds that can only be taken 6 times in your lifetime. It can cause cysts especially in PCOS patients. You have to be monitored via sonogram!
Good luck!
