dry patches on skin

I haven't called the ped about this yet bc it doesn't seem to bother him, but my LO has a few dry patches of skin on his cheeks and on the tip of his nose and they are kind of reddish. Like I said I don't think it bothers him, he never tries to rub or scratch his face or anything.  But I am a bit worried it could be eczema or psoriasis or something.  Could it be just from the cold weather?  Its barely visible in the morning when he wakes up and then gets much more red and noticeable as the day goes on.

    sounds like eczema... keep it moisturized.

    do you use a humidifier? We do, and it helps with it... doesn't get rid of it, but it helps...

    Graham has dry patches on his stomach & back. Pedi said it's most likely baby eczema and to put Baby Aveeno Eczema lotion on it.

    Read up topical uses for baking soda or cornstarch in a bath only. I put a tablespoon of baking soda in DD's bath and did wonders for her. A friend of mine recommended cornstarch but I didn't try it... also baby ganics makes great bath and lotion products specifically for eczema, which I only use...

    DD2 has the same thing and her pedi said it's from the cold air hitting her face. We use Aquaphor to keep it moisturized.

    the BabyGanics eczema lotion is great, DD's dry patches on her arms and legs were gone after two days

    thanks ladies!  We do use a humidifier and I've been putting Vaseline and aquaphor on it.

    Eczema gets worse in cold dry weather. Put aveeno eczema lotion on it or some other sensitive skin lotion on it. Also call ped if it doesn't go away. May need some cream.

    Our pedi prescribed steroid ointment for DS but specifically said not to use it in the area around his nose and mouth. I would try to keep going with the vaseline or an eczema-specific OTC cream.

    My LO has this on her feet and behind her knees.  My pedi just told me to use hydrocortisone cream....not every day, and to alternate it with baby oil and then Aveeno lotion.  It seems to be working pretty well.  Poor thing, she gets the dry skin from my side of the family and winter is a killer!
