SO likes Lucy....?

It's not that I'm opposed to this name...I think the option of the nickname Lulu could be cute until she's a certain age, but I can't stop thinking of "Lucy! You've got some splainin to do!"

Is it cute, or outdated?

This makes me sound like a hypocrite because our top girl name is Evelyn...which is kind of in the "older name" category...I guess I just don't know about Lucy.

I absolutely love Lucy/Lucille. Lulu is a dog name to me (sorry) so I wouldn't go there. I think it's a great name that is still great at age 30.

It is odd for him to actually pick a name out, and it to be "older" on top of that. I think I do like Lucia, and Lucille.

I like Lucy. I don't think that association will be readily made. I have a friend who named their DD Tabitha. To us, the adults, we all associated it w/ Bewitched. Her peers do not, and the name really is "her".

My DH like it too. I don't think it is outdated and the Lucy Ricardo references don't bother me. I think very few of her classmates will be watching it to mock her anyway.

I love the name Lucy. I think it works well for a little girl, but I also think it ages well (I have a friend named Lucy and it never struck me as being young or cutesy at our age.)

I like Lucy as a NN but I prefer less cutesy full names. I feel like it gives her the option to have more serious name later in life. So I would consider Lucille.

Love the name Lucy and had considered it a few years ago for my first daughter. It is getting more popular in the midwest. Not an "old" name but coming back. Cute and classy.
