My son has always had a voracious appetite and is a great eater. Lately, however, he will not eat any of the purees I make him. Actually, he will only eat the fruit purees (he loves applesauce and pears) but when I get him to try any of the Plum Organics toddler training pouches or any veggie & meat purees, he refuses and even gags. He does the same with Earth's Best brands and Gerber Organics brands. He just doesnt like the veggie & meat purees. What he does devour, however, is any table food we give him.
I usually "try" to feed him his dinner at 5:30pm and its usually a chicken/turkey and veggie blend puree. He wont eat more than the first bite. At about 6:30pm m my husband and I have our dinner and when LO sees us eating, he wants some himself. He loves pasta, rice, beans, chicken...loves anything we eat. Loves toast with butter. Loves bagel and cream cheese.
Im assuming my son is ready to start eating table food on a more consistent basis. However, my husband and I usually eat very spicy food so im not sure what to make my son.
Any ideas on foods I can make to share with my son that are healthy and easy?
Re: 10mo not interested in baby food anymore
Girlfriend, just feed your baby food. Real food in tiny pieces. Give him anything! just leave the spices out. Ew who likes to eat meat purees anyway? Lol.
Don't over think it. Just feed the baby real food! rice, beans, meat, chicken, pasta, lasagna, casseroles, etc!
We never cooked special food for the baby. Just chopped up ours in little pieces and done!
edit: ok don't give them "anything" like avoid crazy things obviously but you get what I mean.

I think my DD only ate "baby food" for like a month... She's been on table food for a while.
Micah Leonard
This entirely. We give Micah all the spices too with the exception of salt and hot spicy. But really, babies can enjoy flavor and texture just like we do. Micah has chowed down on Indian, thai etc.
I agree that he can eat table food, but like pp said, I would watch salt, sugar and spices. When my daughter eats with us, I take out her portions before I season the food. Also, I boil or steam vegetables and cook meat without any seasonings for her so that she can hold them and eat them by herself:)
