I am deciding that a tandem would be awesome to have. i am currently debating between a used city select that is a 2010 for 350 or a new 2012 for 550. Anyone have any thoughts on these? i did plan on my bumbleride being my main stroller but it barely fits in my very large suv with all my passengers

Re: city select dilemma
I have the 2010 city select and have been very pleased. I think we paid around 500 for the stroller with both seats in January 2011 (they had just come out with the 2011 model and retailers were trying to get rid of the 2010 model). It is our only stroller and we have been using it for the past 22 months without a problem. When they were infants, we laid the regular seats back (as demonstrated by ladies here on the bump) and strapped the babies in. We never had the infant carseats, so we never used or needed the extra pieces to attach those types of seats. (If your intent is to use it with infant carseats, keep in mind that you will need to buy extra pieces and that those peices are specific to the type of carseat you are using.)
I have no experience with the 2012 model.

I'd probably go for the 2010. The major difference between the 2010 and 2011 models was the back support boards, and about half of the ones from 2010 had the boards. I got my 2010 model in Feb 2011 for under $500 and it has the back support boards.
Re: cupholders, the one for the BJCS just hangs on the handlebar - it's the Baby Jogger universal parent console. There are also others that work just fine for it. And worst case, Baby Jogger usually still sells accessories for older models. I was able to get a belly bar for a 2007 model City Series from them with no problem. I don't think the changes in the stroller have been that huge in the last 2 model years to justify an increase in $200, assuming the condition on the 2010 is good.
