Do you feed until content or feed based on the formula weight x 2.5 x #of feedings for example 8.
For my little girl she is supposed to eat 2oz based on this formula but they are still hungry afterwards. I pump, breastfeed and supplement with formula. My milk isn't in all the way so i only pump 30-40ml each breast. i give them the BM and then 20-30 ml of formula to make up the 60ml (2oz) and sometimes they are still hungry so we have to give more formula.
Can you overfeed a baby?? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I have another drs appt on wed but at the last appt he wasn't concerned about the amt of BM i was giving them.
I just want to make sure i'm doing all i can for these babies even if they get more formula than BM.
Any input/advice would be great. Thanks!
Re: Feeding question
IDK, I think 60-80ml per pumping at 1 wk is pretty good! It takes time to establish supply. And, it can be hard to get supply up for 2 babies. If BF is an option it may help you get supply up. Babies always get more milk than the pump. NOT pressuring you... I had trouble BFing, and did the BF/pump/bottle/supplement combo. I know how very hard it is.
GL, and now is a great time to invest in a good LC who knows about twins. Have you contacted your local MoM group?
