I have this stupid fear of my water breaking at work in my cubicle ... Anybody's water break at work? I didn't have to worry about it the first time because the doctor broke it in the hospital.
Lol (I don't mean to laugh at your fear but I have something similar)- I am a teacher and the carpet in my room is disgusting. It's wall to wall and I've been asking for it to be removed for years and they don't do it. It has had so many disgusting things happen on this rug with my younger students (vomit, pee, etc. etc. ) but the school hasn't done a thing about it- mainly because there is asbestos tile underneath. I keep thinking that maybe if my water does break on it then they'll be forced to finally do something about it. I plan to work right up to my EDD, so you never know!

My cubicle faces the middle of the walk way, so people are constantly walking down the walk way and seeing me, I am not hiding at all in a corner, and ta da! Good heavens!
My water never broke--it was broken at the hospital. So remember a lot of women don't ever experience the "water break" at all.
But I always have to share my favorite water breaking story:
B/G: I had GD with DD#1. Went to a restaurant and the waiter was a total jerk about me asking for substitutions (which they wouldn't do) and our food sucked. Would never go back. FF a year and a friend goes there while PG and her water breaks.
I gave her a hi-5 and told her I hoped she ruined the upholstery AND that same waiter had to clean it up!
I wouldn't worry about it too much. For one the percentage of women whose water breaks on its own is pretty low. But even when it does, you will probably have some sort of indication beforehand (like contractions). My water did break on my own, at home, but I'd been having contractions the entire day so had I been at work, I would have known something was up and gone home.
Buuuut, I do plan on keeping a towel and extra pair of pants at work, just like I did the first time, just in case. I don't worry about it breaking in my cube as much as I would about it breaking in a meeting or something, lol.
Mine broke on its own, but I was lying down, trying to rest. I had been having mild contractions for weeks and they were 3 minutes apart. They were not painful though. I noticed a little trickle and went to the bathroom where the volume increased. It was like a very heavy period flow that came in waves with the contractions. A heavy menstrual pad is what I used on the way to the hospital, but I've also heard of people using a newborn diaper. I would keep a bag in your office and/or car with a towel, change of clothes, and some pads and/or diaper.
I had a friend whose water broke while she was meeting with her boss...in her boss's office. Luckily, the boss was a woman and a mother and it was all fine, but I"m sure somewhat embarrassing.
My experience with it was not a huge puddle of water smacking the floor like in the movies though.
Mine broke with no warning at home and it was a big gush. If it has been 24 hours later I would have been standing in front of a room full of kindergarteners trying to explain why I had just wet my pants, LOL.

This is so NOT stupid.. I freak about the same thing to DH almost daily!
this! I'd be ok with it breaking in public bc then it would be someone else's problem to clean, evil I know! But it's so cold here now, my pants would probably freeze to my leg as I waddled to the car
It takes a special amount of bitch to induce menstruation in another person. - LovelyRitaMeterMaid
My water broke on itsown with no warning. We had been out all day shopping, went to dinner, had AAA install our carseat bases. H was watching Teen mom lol, I decided to take a bath. Peed beforehad, went to step in and had a small gush. Thought I just hadnt finished peeing, sat back down on toilet, two more gushes I knew it was my water. I open the door and asked H to bring me a large pad and that my water broke. I have never seen him move so fast. He had our belongings in the car beforeI even came out of the bathroom. No contractions. I called my ob who suggested waitinga little butH said no way and if I didnt walk to the car he would have carried me. I felt small gushes all the way to ld,
I'm not working right now and I will probably stick close to home for this reason alone! If I do go out, I will probably wear a pad, and I'm not even kidding. Haha

A pad isn't going to help. It's a lot of fluid. Mine broke at home without any warning or contractions at all. I felt a little pop and made it to the tile bathroom just in time to not ruin the carpet! I keep a beach towel, pants, underwear & pad in my car just in case.

Would a poise pad or something for incontenience work? I take a commuter bus in to work and can't drag a buinch of extra stuff with me every day. My water broke at the hospital, after we started the induction, with my first, so I did not experience it just walking around or working or what have you. I didn't feel any pop or anything, just felt the bed liner/pad get damp.
Son #1 is already 2!
Not too much longer until Son No.2 arrives!
I woke at around 12:30 am thinking i must have to pee so i made a movement to sit up in bed and gush huge volume i shrieked for my husband to get a towel ad i held my hand over me as if that was going to work! Lol makes me laugh but sooo thankful it was at home. I think he ripped the sheets off right away and put a towel down it was all clear so no gross mess. Now i wake all night long to turn back and forth and hope it will break...so far...nothing! Common kiddo your due tomorrow
Re: Stupid fear....
This made my day!

Valid fear!

With my first baby, my water broke at home as I was waddling to the bathroom.
I am a substitute teacher, and I have stopped subbing. One reason is because I was afraid my water may break during class.
With my first baby, my water broke at the grocery store. I had already paid and was on my way out, so I just kept going!

omg this, only because I have a memory foam mattress topper, and it is a pain in the ass to clean!
