I recently found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant (first time mother). I am hoping for some recommendations for a great OB/GYN in the Seattle area (near capitol hill would be ideal).
I'm with Group Health for insurance, so I elected to work with the midwife group at GH Capitol Hill. I've met most of them now and so far have enjoyed them all. I have a couple of favorites, but no one that I dislike.
You can use the Neighborcare midwives and deliver at Group Health even if you aren't insured through them. They have the lowest C Section rate in the area.
When I delivered I was with GH insurance and chose to deliver at their Cap Hill Family Beginnings. I LOVED them. My birth experience wasn't ideal, but it was by no means the Dr or facility's fault. I have heard fabulous things about their midwife group, Dr Deemer delivered my son while joking and talking with me in my panic moments and Dr Flum was fabulous when I had to be evaluated in triage when falling.
I did use a family practitioner for my maternity care and while I know that isn't always the norm, I loved my decision. He was there every step of the way and even held my hand while getting my spinal. He also was the first to evaluate my son and I loved that because he was going to be his dr anyway.
I delivered both of my babies at Capital Hill GH Family Beginnings. My main dr. was Dr. Cook, who I loved, but all of the doctors there are GREAT. I think I saw all of them at least once. Dr. Deimer delivered my first and Dr. Davenport my second. Good luck!
The Central Seattle Clinic at Swedish Cherry Hill is great and in the Capitol Hill area. The OBs there are so nice and I love that I can email them non-urgent questions and get an answer either within the same working day or the next day.
