Do you do your own or have someone else do them for you?
I do them
If you have someone else do them, does it cost?
No idea, I've never had somebody else do them for me. As soon as I started working my Dad taught me how to do my own and so I've always done them. I think places around here used to charge $100 when DH would have his done, before I started doing them too.
Have you filed for 2012?
Nope, I have my W-2 but I am waiting for DH's W-2.
Do you usually get a refund or do you usually owe?
I would love to just break even but DH loves getting a return. So, I have it set so we usually get money back.

We've always used Turbotax in the past. This year DH insists on using somone that came highly recommended. We haven't filed yet waiting on W2s. We usually get a small refund.

We have always had someone do them, and I want to say it costs 40. That seems really cheap, but I think I remember being surprised at the price last year. We live in a tiny town and use the town accountant, so it seems about right... I don't know. If I am wrong, I'll find this thread and bump it up when I find out, haha!
We have always gotten a nice return, especially last year since DD was born. Hoping for another this year so we can buy a car; I mean, we'll have some money to add to the car fund and hopefully we'll have enough. We want to pay cash.
We haven't had them done yet, also waiting on W2s.
I used to do ours, but then when I became self employed I didn't want to deal with all the extra forms and the higher likelihood of being audited so we opted to have someone else do it.
We have paid between $90 and $150 depending on the year (the year of $150 was when I started the home business).
We are waiting on two more forms, which will most likely come while we are on vacation, because that's just how it works! Usually we have filed by now and are waiting on our refund.
We always get a refund despite claiming 15 on DH's withholdings. Between SL and mortgage interest, two kiddos, and his school write-offs we still come out ahead. When I was self employed we got BIG refunds.
ETA: We always try to break even, but an $800 refund is as close as we have come so far. I hate the thought of letting the government keep my money interest free for a year. Plus, I fear the day will come when they decide they need the money more than the tax-payers so they will just keep it. ;-)
H always makes us go to HR Block. It costs us $300 and we get back about $1k. Not worth it in my book. Plus they screwed up several years and give horrible customer service.
Do you do your own or have someone else do them for you?
We have an accountant handle everything.
If you have someone else do them, does it cost?
He bills $600, but charges me $300 since he was my client in one of my former sales jobs.
Have you filed for 2012?
Not yet, meeting with him on February 5th to go through everything.
Do you usually get a refund or do you usually owe?
Refund. This annoys the hell out of my accountant. I like getting a refund, it's like Christmas to me, so I overpay my taxes all year long to guarantee a refund. I realize how dumb the logic is behind this.
Re: Taxes
We do our own! DH is doing them now!
We usually break even, give or take. This year we'll get a small refund.
I am one of those people who doesn't like to give the government an interest-free loan. ;-)
I do them myself.
Not yet, we don't have all of DH's W2s.
And we usually get a refund. We had better get one this year!
I used to do them on my own but last year we went to HR Block and it didnt seem worth it, So I think I lll do ours this year
We are still waiting on forms, its rediculous
