Next year for me, and I'll either have to stop BFing with #2 or do it late... I'm leaning toward doing it late!! This will be my last LO and I would hate to stop BFing early. I'm 40 in June, LO will be born in May.
I had a baseline done at 35 (there was a short window where that was the recommended age) and I was terrified. Amazingly it was not that bad. I was expecting excrutiating pain and thankfully that did not happen. Plus I was in and out of the appointment pretty quickly (did it after work).

@racampbell: Ii just had my first this year at 42, due to the fact that I was BF. Keep doing what you think is right, and as long as there is no history in your family, your doctor should postpone it for you.

This was my experience too... had one done at 37 and then also the next two years (with an extra one to check some cysts). Had heard horror stories but in actuality they weren't painful at all. A bit of a squeeze and hard to keep still, but overall not bad and over pretty quickly. I hope it's the same for you!
Next one: not quite sure, as I'm nursing and overdue for one since my pregnancy. But I go for my 6-month postpartum in a couple of weeks, so we'll see.

My doctor said the new recommendation was 38 so I got my first one two years ago. I had a miscarriage three weeks before so was still tender. Ugh it hurt! Good luck!
I was breastfeeding last year so I guess it is now time for another one. Thanks for the reminder.
Can you take the day off and do somehting fun/pampering for yourself afterward? Maybe a mani/pedi, or lunch/shopping with a pal?
On the bright side--Once it's done you have a whole year before you need to do it again!
^^ This. I've had a few - I caught an infection from a swimming pool as a teen, so I've had them at 14, 17, 24, etc. At 14, it hurt like a SOB, now, not as much. Sagging isn't always so bad.
My last one was at 38, I should go get another one soon since I'm 41 now. I just saw that Giuliana Rancic has breast cancer and that really scared me! She doesn't have a family history or anything.
Me: 44 DH: 42.
DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09.
TTC since then with no luck or ART.
Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.
I, too, had a baseline done at 35 due to family history. It really wasn't bad and it is over quickly. If you let the technician know this is your first and you are nervous they can be really good at walking you through it and easing your mind.
I'll just say I had my 1st mammogram at 35 because I found a lump -- it ended up being benign. And I've gone annually (except when pregnant) since I was 37. I'm 41 now.
